From steak to seafood, vegetables to burgers, anything that Rufo can throw on his grill he does -- and to much success, too. The outdoor restaurant fits perfectly with the charcoal grill flavors, fresh corn tortillas and hearty homestyle portions that makes Rufo's so popular. There's often a crowd during high season but it's worth coming early or staying late to get a taste. Rufo is a personable host and takes extra effort to make each customer's experience unique and fully satisfying. He has even been known to bring out a large platter of grilled steak, ribs, fish and shrimp for a group to sample when they can't make up their mind. There isn't a huge bar selection but the margaritas are strong and the beer is cold. On a hot Zihuatanejo night, what more could you ask for?

It is also the same establishment as the delightful Patio Mexicali cooking class (which we participated in last year) so the food can't be all that bad. During our 2 weeks in Zihuatanejo we had many fine meals and this was one of them. Just a short walk down the hill from Intrawest, past Irma Hotel is Rufo's. It sits on a quiet corner, and freely is no more than an open air garden spot. However, the fish is fresh and prepared over a Mesquite grill. Simple... More

A simple, open-air restaurant with great service and delicious food fresh from the grill. We enjoyed the acoustic music and the small, intimate atmosphere.

Discovered Rufo's Grill on our last night, and dinned there 4.31.15. What a great experience. The atmosphere is rustic, outdoorsy and very inviting. The service was excellent and attentive. The service was so good, when I discovered I did not have cash (it is cash only), the owner said no problem, happens all the time. The next think you know... More

We were enticed into Rufo's Grill by the live acoustic music. A guitar and bongo player accompanied our meal with traditional Mexican songs. We ate the grilled vegetables and they were fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great margaritas and grilled fresh fish and vegetables. Simple fare, perfectly done. Very friendly, usually live acoustic music. Delicious dependable open-air favorite.

We dined at Rufo's this evening. The greeting and service is always exceptional. We both had the "special" grilled Red Snapper. The snapper was by far, the best fish I've had here this year. The grilled vegetables were outstanding and, of course, the fries. There were two musicians playing traditional Mexican music which really makes the dining perfect. Thank you,... More

Strolled by here one evening, returned for their no frills fish and was not dissapointed. Simple menu but everything we got was tasty and plentiful. Mainly had American holidaymakers which is normal for this area. Had two guys, one american and one local I think, playing all sorts of classics on an acoustic and electric guitar if I remember correctly.... More

Got there before 6 pm on a Saturday night. Service started out great but ended on a down note when 3 parties arrived near about the same time. Two 5 tops and a 4 top (old waiter talk). Anyhow the food was good. The mrs had the seabass, I had the pork chop both grilled on the outdoor BBQ. I... More

Rufo's is in the same location as Patio Mexica for anyone that hasn't figured that out yet. The dinner was very good and the live music was a bonus. We also had some children come by for a short dance routine that was very nice.
