We have been to this restaurant several times, and it has been consistently excellent. My favorite dish is the tacos de pulpo (octopus tacos), which are succulent. The lobster tacos are also excellent as the tacos al pastor de pescado. The service is always excellent. Highly recommended.

We went with the waiter’s suggestion and ordered different combinations of fish tacos, all of which were excellent. The service is great and the restaurant itself is unique in its design and décor. The Fat Mermaid is well worth a visit Great service, great prices, and lots of unique handmade items in the small gift shop they have there. It’s... More

We had the ceviche and also the fish tacos, all of which were excellent. Unfortunately they were out of the smoked fish that evening. We would have returned there if we'd had more time. It was well priced and the food was very good.

My daughter n I wanted to try this place after hearing about it. It is at the ferry end of the artists square and looks quaint . We were too late for breakfast but had to wait Til the lunch menu was starting. There are nice little wooden boats hanging from the ceiling and lots of weird looking fat mermaid... More

We came here specifically to try their smoked fish tacos, they were recommended by somebody we met during our stay in Zihua. I ordered the fish tacos al pastor and my husband had the smoked fish tacos. Both were really tasty.

This unpretentious sidewalk cafe has been in business since 1985 and one bite of the grilled mahi-mahi will tell you why. This place is for fish-lovers. The shrimp ceviche (which goes by another name) is delicious, but the fresh fish fillets are the attraction. They are served numerous ways, all of which are excellent. The "Fat Mermaid" is worth a... This time, I had their red chicken soup. It was chicken soup in a red pepper broth with shredded chicken and rice. It was good but not awesome. The people beside me were sharing the guacomole and they said it was awesome. The restaurant's name means the fat mermaid, and the whole restaurant is decorated that way. There even is... More

This place might be empty but the food is excellent! The food is a great price and the art is really interesting. We came here for breakfast and had eggs they were awesome, cooked perfectly. The patio is a nice place to sit because its not too hot ( no bugs at all )! Hopefully this is helpful!

Food was OK but twice the price of Bananas for the same quality. Better to look further back from the beach for better quality.
