This restaurant is not in the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta-but every cab driver knows where it is. This intimate restaurant offers some of the most delicious food I have ever had. They offer a spinach salad that is like no other spinach salad you have ever had! They have unique dishes, some of them inspired by Frida Kahler. The... More

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, look no further than Repollo Rojo (Red Cabbage Cafe). Many of the dishes served are rarely found elsewhere. We love Frida's Feast which is composed of food that was served at Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera's wedding dinner: Peanut Soup (sounds bizarre but is delicious); Spinach Salad (unlike any you've ever had... We have visited this out of the way but worth the trip place - several times over the last 12 years. It's just fun to be there - either as a couple or with a group of friends and we have done it both ways. The waiters a little grumpy but they can also make you laugh and the mole... More

Good mexican food with a nice variety of dishes. It seems that reservations are a good idea but we got a table right away. Very attentive staff and the lady who owns it took time to chat. The decor is unique and interesting, especially for Freda Kahlo fans. Not your average stop so expect to pay a reasonable amount for... More

The Red Cabbage serves simple, straight-forward Mexican cuisine perfectly done. By simple, I do not mean that the preparation of good Mexican food is simple -- it is certainly not. The spices and chiles that go into these meals bring a great complexity to the food. I just mean that there are no frills. What you get is real authentic,... More

You really want to go here. Our very knowledgeable concierge told us it was the best real Mexican food in PV and she is correct. It's not in the middle of everything but every cab driver knows it. And its overall funk quota makes it a joy. On the first night we didn't have enough cash (no credit cards) and... More

The atmosphere competes with the food, and both are excellent. Dine on dishes based on recipes from the Diego Rivera/Frida Kahlo household. Very well prepared. The decor is outstanding, with lots of posters and hand painted tables with lots of interesting things to look at. Service was very good.

I have been going to this restaurant for 12 years and their quality is excellent. In particular, their Chilies en Nogada is unequaled in Puerto Vallarta or anywhere in the Banderas Bay area. It is a dish served cold, a poblano chili stuffed with picadillo, a meat filling with dried fruits and spices. It is served with an white almond... More
