The food and ambience were distinctive and delightful. There are photos and paintings of famous people from Liz Taylor and Richard Burton to the Beatles and Mexican famous artists and performers as well. The food was unlike any we found in the more usual restaurants, it's authentic Mexican, some of which takes hours and hours to prepare and we found... More

our good friend had been here years ago and so we went back for a lunchtime cooking demo. Lola was delightful. Food was delicious. She has kept this place really special since 1981.

Been going her every year for about 20 years, always hospitable, delicious, interesting flavors and creative meals. Wonderful out-of-the way location along the river, lovely walk through the residential streets of Puerto Vallarta, can get there by foot, bus, taxi. The decor is always fantastic---lots of things to be amazed by (I won't spoil the surprises). The owner is warm... More

El Repollo Rojo was recommended by a Mexican coworker of mine as his “favorite restaurant on the planet” and after eating there I now understand why. From the lovely and friendly service, to the stunning décor to the hand-crafted truly outstanding food, this restaurant is an experience you will never forget. I had the Chiles En Nogada, the house specialty,... More

Red Cabbage was suggested to me by my cousin and my wife and I went to dinner there. This was the best food we had in the week we were in Puerto Vallarta by far. It is small and fills up quick, so try to get there a little after 5:00.

Unusual variations on recipes, presentation, and flavors, all in an artful setting. Tasty, moderately priced, out of the tourista areas, fine host and owner Lola, lots of Frida Kahlo inspired artwork for visual entertainment. Overall an enjoyable meal, and a location I'd visit often when in Puerto Vallarta. Highly recommend. Make reservations prior.

I don't even know where to begin with Red Cabbage. Wanted to try something very local and not touristy. Away from the beaten path that everyone always seems to follow when visiting. A local I asked recommended the Red Cabbage so I made a reservation our last night in Puerto Vallarta for myself and 3 others. From first glance you... More

The Red Cabbage (El Repollo Rojo) is a must do experience in Puerto Vallarta. We've eat here every time we visit PV, sometimes more than once, and the food is always, always excellent. The highest quality Mexican cooking in a quirky, buzzy, setting way off in a dark, residential neighborhood, alongside the Rio Cuale. Two things to remember: make a... More

Such a fabulous experience. Food was wonderful, artfully done. The pork was amazing. Wonderful service. Small place with great atmosphere. Make reservations. Prices were very reasonable. No credit cards. We loved it.
