Small place and the expats will get there before you so make reservations no matter how early. THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS, so bring pesos, somewhere between 500-1,000 depending on your crowd.

This is the place that Frieda Kahlo and Diego Garcia relaxed and ate. Their wedding reception was held there. Great, authentic food. Decor included pictures and memorabilia from celebrities who had visited or were fans including Richard Burton, Liz Taylor, George Harrison, and Alfred E Neumann of MAD magazine fame. It is a small and out of the way but... More

We were referred by my husband's coworker. It's a hidden little place and off the beaten path but the taxi driver knew where to go. We were skeptical when we arrived but took a chance and were so glad we did! The staff was amazing and the owner Lola even came by and chatted with us a couple times and... More

We have eaten at the Red Cabbage for about three years and the food has been consistently outstanding. This is a small restaurant away from the center of activity in PV and suggest that you take a taxi to the restaurant. Often the taxi drivers don't even know where it is, but rest assured, it is worth the effort to... More

Do not miss this restaurant! One of the best in PV. Four of us had a wonderful dinner there tonight, starting off with sharing the chile in nogada and the cream of peanut soup from Frieda's and Diego's wedding dinner. You must taste these....really! Entrées included both chicken mole dishes which were were succulent & spicy, and the Mexican Plate... More

The food was authentic Mexican and wonderful. Based on recipes of Frida. Staff was very helpful. Small out of the way, lovely ambience.

Second time to the Red Cabbage was as good as the first. Warm staff, great traditional food. Not the same old fare served again and again in all the larger eating spots. Nothing on the menu that will disappoint if you love real Mexican flavours. Bring home a cookbook!

We were wondering around old town, and finding only tourist places or small tacoria's. Stopped two guys on the street and asked where to find good Mexican food, and they said "do you like Mole?" and recommended taking a cab ride to Red Cabbage. The atmosphere was unique, fun, and colorful. The art was everywhere and the out of the... More

Cafe El Repollo Rojo, The Red Cabbage is well off the beaten track, but worth the visit. Take a taxi there and back. The food is really very good. The staff (and owner) were all very friendly and helpful. For example, if you are unsure about a sauce, they will bring you a sample to taste. The menu is varied... More
