Fish is fresh, well prepared. Cheaper & not as noisy as Shrimp Bucket! Friendly staff. Great place to watch sunsets as right across from beach.

But the food here is really good and quite inexpensive. We had our best shrimp meal here at this tiny spot on the south end of the malecon near the Historical District. The shrimp were well done and the saffron rice was a very nice complement. Service was a bit slow, but the wait was worth it as the food... More

We both had shrimp dishes that were very good! I ordered the green salad, and it was GINORMOUS! Delicious, but huge! I ate less than half of it since I was saving room for the shrimp. We were seated inside, but asked if we could move outdoors when a table opened up. No problemo! Right after the sunset, an outdoor... More

Our first two choices for lunch were closed, so we went to La Cueva del Leon for a casual lunch. We weren't disappointed! Excellent salad with shrimp, nachos (a bit soggy), beer (of course)

We lived in Mazatlan for a year in 2010. We experienced a lot. Of all the places this is the only one that hands down we felt they cared. The food wasn't only good and consistent but priced right. These people are happy and want your experience to be good. If you go nowhere else go here. Don't expect a... More

Their shrimp stuffed poblana is wonderful! The portions are very generous and the view great. I keep returning.

We keep returning to La Cueva de Leon for its generous and well made green salad. Never watery, it allows us to savor the fresh taste of the vegetables and vinaigrette sauce.

And comes with a fantastic view, especially at sunset. Located on Olas Altas, where there is a full block of good eateries all with about 4 sidewalk tables each, this place is right next to the bike rental. Well known for generous portions and reasonable pricing. Five large size coconut shrimp with a spicy mango sauce and a side of spanish... More

We were looking for a place to eat near old town Mazatlan when we ran into a volunteer tourist adviser. Looked like a retired gentleman from the US who lives part of the year in Mexico. He has tons of useful information and gave us a breakdown of different options on where to eat. We ended up at La Cueva... More

Location is fantastic, right across the street from the beach. The food is average, the prices are right, and several Americans and Canadians can be found every day having a bite to eat.
