As Huatulco residents and world traveler we often enjoy a pleasant dinner in L'Echalote. The owner is a real Swiss/French chef and gentleman and there is a remarkable variety of excellent food from French gourmet, fresh seafood and even some amazing Asian dishes. The staff is very friendly and absolutely honest. As comment to a previous review accusing Mexican waiters to be... More

I've been here on 4-5 occasions. I've sat with the owner at the bar, hes7 a nice Swiss guy. The food is good, gratin of seafood appetizer is nice as is the Shrimp Irene. Many different meat and fish offerings are pretty good. The problem arises every time when the check comes. As is quite common in Hustulco, the waiters... More

Hi, Hank I'm Thierry, " the Swiss good guy " as you kindly said... Chef-owner of L'Échalote. I simply would like you to remember that we offer two different kinds of mezcal on the menu: " Del amigo " : 50 pesos " Reposado " : 60 pesos You asked for "Reposado", you had 3 of them, so it is... More

My experience went from not knowing what to expect to surpassing my expectations, the decor and the ambient is out of a book, is very private and romantic if you're taking a date, but at the same time very tranquil and warm if you want to take the family or a group of friends, the waiter make sure i was... Loved the quiet location, cool and quiet without freezing air-conditioning. Amazing food. The world's best chocolate mousse (if you can save room).

This is a unique project to help the local area and the planet. This garden and shows the best of Mexico and great potential for a blend of eco-friendly practices and agriculture. Very inspiring. Enjoyed fantastic food cooked on outdoor wood-fired stove and cooled off in pristine waters. For best results, be sure to bring mosquito repellent.

L'Echalote is located in a quiet neighborhood. We ate on the small, tastefully decorated patio. The staff was attentive. The owner and his son stopped by to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. I believe I had one of my best meals at this restaurant. And for all you vegetarians, there is delicious food for you.

It didn't live up to all the high recommendations we had. Nothing to write home about. Big plate of pasta nothing special. Service was friendly and lovely conversation with other guests.

I went to this restaurant 2 or 3 times a week for 6 weeks this past winter,2014. Without exception,I had an excellent meal each time. I tried most things on the menu.My favourites would be the fish dishes and the salads. The ingredients in all the dishes were fresh, well suited to the dishes and added significantly to the flavours throughout.... More
