This is quite an unusual place - and not just because their speciality is goat. Tiled arched ceilings, statues/busts of animals all over, multiple chandeliers - quite a site. We had dried beef and chorizo and cheese apps. The beef was interesting - and good. The chorizo dish was nothing to get excited about. I had the combo of arrachera... More

During my recent stay visit in Monterrey, I was invited for a business lunch. The food was great, both the small starters with salsa and guacamole, and as well the goat meet with tacos. The setting and atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and interesting.

Try the riñonada one of the best plates. Take care of the salsas they are very hot if you don't know to eat chile. Also ask for an INDIO beer. And a guacamole with totopos(tortilla chips)

If you really like cabrito and are spending a lot of time in Monterrey, you should probably try this place. The cabrito is good. They also serve parts of the animal that you can't find in a lot of places (for the more adventurous person). This place has been around forever - a true Monterrey landmark. The food is good... More

Cabrito is the traditional dish from Monterrey. El Rey del Cabrito is a nice place to have a good meal under a reasonable rate.

For those that like slightly dry fibrous meat, this is the old school "camposino" style Mexican food. For seemingly exotic dishes such as calf sweetbreads and different cuts if meat. Fair, but not cheap prices, good beer, plenty of sides,( ala cart of course). First class service.

Yes it´s a good option and a classic in Monterrey, but recently it is not the best option for having a delightful Cabrito in Monterrey. We visited last week, and while the service is still very good, the food itself it´s nost the best i have. The cabrito is commonly little bit dry (even the legs) and the tortillas are... More

I went to el Rey del cabrito to eat baby goat with my family but the restaurant went beyond what I expected on service. I was surprised when the waiter came up to the table to pour more orange juice into my glass and he even helped to get the kids to eat! The atmosphere of the restaurant was great... More

El Rey is a good place to have cabrito (baby goat). It is very traditional and very Mexican. Maybe a bit overpriced for the quality of what you get. If you have never had cabrito maybe you should choose a mixed plate (cabrito and beef) so if ou don't love it, you can still have a great meal. Worth one... More
