Best "Cabrito" in town

If you want to try a different version of our well know "cabrito", you have to try the special "J.I." of La Escondida. It is a real different thing compared to the cassia al pastor dish. After several "go, no go" we finally went to have dinner. It's not easy to find as the street to get there is kind of hidden an the best reference point should be La Nacional restaurant. Regarding the food it was between good and great. The starters, fried quail and mushrooms were great. For the main we had ribeye "a... More

We liked our meal very much. We arrived for dinner very early by Monterrey standards, so found the place virtually empty. The wine selection was solid, if not excessive. My husband had the braised baby goat and was very pleased. I had a stewed baby goat in a roasted poblano pepper that we all agreed was the best selection of... More

I had been dreaming with the duck enchiladas with red chili sause that does not makes you cry, only served here. What a delicious first plate to share, and then we went to cave into grilled quails with oregano and spices, and a grand piece of meat in the grill. Desserst are all homemade and delicious, never pardon the corn... More

This was one of the best Mexican meals I have had - very good food and wine in a traditional setting slightly hidden from the main thoroughfares . Good service . Local menu with plenty of options to suit all tastes and good advice in choosing Mexican wine

One of the best restaurants in tow. In this place you can have real Mexican Cuisine at very high standards. The owner really makes the effort to have all his customers happy.

The owners were right when they named this restaurant "The Hidden Place", you have to drive really slowly throughout the San Jerónimo Avenue to spot it, behind a furniture store called Tamarindo. The place is small but has good mexican food in a cozy atmosphere.

This time we called beforehand for a reservation, at 9:00 PM it was fully booked, so we decided to have an early dinner about 7:30 and we got a table. We suggest to call in advance. The gracious owner was as usual, taking care of each table and all customers arriving. His oldest son was already helping with the fabulous... More

Based on the reviews from TripAdvisor which rarely steer me wrong, I was just not sold on La Escondida. Got there early on a Friday evening, no trouble with seating. Sat outside and mosquitoes had their meal first. Staff did turn on fans and eventually subsided. Food was good but the restaurant did not wow me. Staff was excellent. I'm... More
