Best Cabrito in town. Good stakes also.

Order the Tablitas, they are very good. Your dish include the salad bar, which is short but with the basics. Cabrito is probably the best in town, order a paleta or order the mixed dish that comes with cabrito and stakes. Good atmosphere, big restaurant with tvs and smoke room. Good service and hand made tortillas and great salsas.

We went to El Gran Pastor to try the roasted goat after reading good reviews, but it was very disappointing. It was easily the most expensive meal we ate in Monterrey, and the least-flavorful. The margaritas were okay, but our tacos and sangria were not worth it, and after we got our food the waiter stopped checking on us.

Great service and the goat tasted delicious. I would recommend this place to have one of the most traditional dishes in Monterrey "Cabrito al Pastor" or roasted goat.

I've eaten take-out from this place several times with friends. The main dish - roasted kid goat - is probably the most typical regional food, and you can find similar restaurants throughout the city. However, several locals have confirmed my (limited) experience: El Gran Pastor is outstanding, and preferred by many over the more ubiquitous chain, "El Rey del Cabrito."

Food is excellent, one of the best places in Monterrey to enjoy goat. Great service and adequate pricing.

If you are a foreigner, find yourself in the Monterrey, Mexico area and wish to taste the regional dishes (e.g. steak and, especially, kid goat), then you must have lunch or dinner at El Gran Pastor (Gonzalitos Avenue). It is the best restaurant to have some of the typical Mexican northeastern cuisine. It is unsurpassed. And avoid, at ALL COSTS,... More

Monterrey, Mexico is famous for its Cabrito (young goat), and this is one of the best. Places to have it. Meals include a salad bar and the service is great. I highly recommend it.

This is a very famous restaurant in Monterrey. It is almost full at lunch time every time I have been there; so, for this reason sometimes you can NOT find a place in the small parking lot they have and also, It is located in an Avenue with a lot of tráffic. They open daily since 8 in the morning... More

I went to Monterrey this weekend with my husband and he really wanted me to try cabrito which is the most famous food there. We made a little research and El Gran Pastor seemed to be the place to go. First thing you need to know is that there's not a lot of parking space, we had to park outside... More

This place was not bad. Good meats, fair prices. Not the cheapest, but still good prices. Parking is a wreck, but this is Mexico. Nice people.
