If you are a foreigner, find yourself in the Monterrey, Mexico area and wish to taste the regional dishes (e.g. steak and, especially, kid goat), then you must have lunch or dinner at El Gran Pastor (Gonzalitos Avenue). It is the best restaurant to have some of the typical Mexican northeastern cuisine. It is unsurpassed. And avoid, at ALL COSTS,... More

Monterrey, Mexico is famous for its Cabrito (young goat), and this is one of the best. Places to have it. Meals include a salad bar and the service is great. I highly recommend it.

This is a very famous restaurant in Monterrey. It is almost full at lunch time every time I have been there; so, for this reason sometimes you can NOT find a place in the small parking lot they have and also, It is located in an Avenue with a lot of tráffic. They open daily since 8 in the morning... More

I went to Monterrey this weekend with my husband and he really wanted me to try cabrito which is the most famous food there. We made a little research and El Gran Pastor seemed to be the place to go. First thing you need to know is that there's not a lot of parking space, we had to park outside... More

This place was not bad. Good meats, fair prices. Not the cheapest, but still good prices. Parking is a wreck, but this is Mexico. Nice people.

It's a bit expensive 9 between 20USD-30USD per plate. If you don't like meat, this is not the place for you. There is nothing but meat there. You can see the open roasted goats over the fire. And you must try the goat. It is excellent. The salad bar left a lot to be desired with bottles of Sam's Club... More

Took timeout with colleagues on a Friday afternoon to have lunch at El Gran Pastor. I loved the food, sauces of chillies and vegetables. My taste buds still crave for the spicy sauce of red chillies and avocado. A must place to eat if u r in town.

One of the most famous dishes of the city is Cabrito this regional delicacy is served in different restaurants but here it is superb! The service is excellent and super fast the atmosphere doesn't get more local than that to be honest. The place is really nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. My favourite par the kidney cut... More

We visited this restaurant after the recommendation of an uncle, and in general of the people we know here in Monterrey, it is by far the best option to have a good cabrito in Monterrey, with the best value-price relation and awesome attention. To begin the cabrito is not dry as in other places, they give several appetizers free of... More

everything is good: staff is friendly and helpful, appetizers are awesome, and the meat is perfectly cooked. Reserve or arrive early, because it;s always full.
