1697 Restaurant owners Kieran and Norma have added to their already excellent restaurant a Micro Brewery called Zopilote. They serve excellent pub food with specials each day. The brews are now locally created and served fresh. The Blond is good (just not my favorite type), but the IPA and Stout are excellent from my viewpoint

We were tired of Pacifico and similar Mexican light beers. Imagine our pleasure to find a location in Loreto that brews craft beer. They have a pale ale, a stout and our favorite, Rattlesnake IPA. Right on the plaza, it is definitely worth a stop Unfortunately we did not have a chance to eat a meal, but the chips and... More

For starters, 1967 Restaurant is easily distinguishable by its unique name (though it is not named this way for no reason, as this was the year that Loreto was established-the first settlement in Baja California Sur as a matter of fact). The location is one of my favourite things about this restaurant, tucked away in a nice little square in... More

My wife and I had dinner at 1697 the other night and it was fantastic. We had read the menu but honestly when I saw that they had an IPA (beer), I was excited. We started out with a goat cheese quesadilla that was a out of this world. Goat cheese quesadilla? Come on you know it has to be... More

Great people watching spot on the edge of the town plaza. Pizza is good and just right for two. We generally share a salad. The shaded outdoor area is perfect for pizza. Micro brews don't live up to their cost but we generally try one before shifting to our old standby. To be honest, I only eat pizza in Loreto... More

Lovely leafy setting, excellent authentic food. Open on a Sunday night which is handy. Wasn't sure what to try, but followed Nelson's advice and had the perfect meal.

We had been next door at a wonderful place, Mita Gourmet, and happened across the sign for Craft Beer at 1697 - determined to return and try out the Scorpion dark beer. We were not disappointed!! Nelson greeted us warmly and supplied us with not only a great beer, but also a very good wine (Chilean) which is hard to... More

The ambiance was good. Tucked away near the square. We dined on the stuffed chili relleno and a pizza. The waiter was more than helpful and the food was good, but not what it could have been. This was my 3rd chili relleno meal in Loreto, as I had just discovered them on this trip, and this one was below... More

Consistently great food. Craft beers are pretty good as well. The staff could not have been friendlier. It is at the high end price-wise in town, but worth it.

Originally stopped for a La Paz brewery micro brew, I needed a dark beer after too many Coronas, Modelos (negro wasn't always available) and Tecates. So we stopped for a "scorpion dark", quite tasty although not as good as the Helena Blackfoot Scottish, we had plans for dinner elsewhere so didn't eat, but while there a fisherman came in (most...
