Time travel back in time awsome decor with a touch of live piano music.

Breakfast was awsome and simple .. But the menu has a very good selection of traditional mexican foods. The service was awsome starting all the way from the door all the way to the table. Once one of the premier restaurants in Ensenada this icon is aging poorly with little attention to necessary upgrades. Service is still good. Menu is the same as it's been forever and with the surge in new upbeat restaurants and cuisine... seems a shame to let this lovely lady try to sit on her sagging laurels. The pastries however are... We stayed at the hotel by the same name around the corner and based on the number of locals eating there, realized this was the place to eat. Not only was the food hot, fresh and tasty but the space was decorated in a wonderful "old world" style of a bygone era. Who sees fabric as wallpaper anymore and sits... More

Went here for New Year's Eve dinner and had a terrific gourmet dinner. We had broiled lobster, filet mignon and the works. Great service and fine cuisine.

Cold eggs, unbalanced hollandaise sauce, old potatoes. No attention from waiters (I had to literally get up and ask for him and there were only 3 tables) canned beans.... Just bad.

We really apologize for the inconvenience caused. We are really surprised for your comments. Our main goal since 1947 is offering only the freshest and finest foods prepared to order. Poultry, vegetables and even delicate herbs are so important for proper seasoning that’s why every morning they arrives to be prepared at the same day. All staff in kitchen are... More

Its all a bit stuffy and formal, but I guess that's part of the appeal. The food was good, the waiters were polite... but so forgetful! The decor was from another place and time... very cool. Nice bakery attached and pleasant outside seating in the sun.

I've been going to EL REY SOL (ERS) for last 40 plus years...but, never written a review. I like this Restaurant, the 4th most visited by Mexicans in last few years. So, what so great? For one, atmosphere....blending the French with Mexican and notably the food. Your have a great selection of French Style and as well as traditional Mexican... More

I ordered chilaquiles and the menu said one price and the waiter asked if I wanted chicken or eggs with that. I order chicken and he didn't tell me it had extra charge. 140 pesos for a plate of chilaquiles. It's a little expensive!!!! They were good period.

I'm staying across the street and asked the concierge to recommend a place for breakfast. He recommended El Rey Sol and gave us a 10% discount coupon. We walked in and right away saw the pastries. Then as we entered the dining room we heard live not canned piano player. What an experience. Food was so good. I can't wait... More

We returned to this beautiful restaurant after an absence of several years. We always felt it was a great "celebration place," with super food, beautiful ambiance and excellent service. Alas, that was not the case for this recent visit. Extremely poor service started with our arrival and then had to get up to find someone to take our drink order.... More
