I give this place a try after all the good reviews, but I was beyond disappointed. We went on a Friday Night at around 7:00 PM, the restaurant was very empty and just about 3 tables occupied, so I figured it would not be an issue with service. They didn't serve us water after I had to ask for it... More

The atmosphere has the personal touch of a piano player with soft music in the back ground. I only ate breakfast there twice. But both times I came out with a quizzy tummy. Could have been the ice cubes????

My husband and I recently moved from Michigan to Mexico and have had a great time checking out the many restaurants in and around Ensenada. He arrived in town before I did and had chosen El Rey Sol for dinner one night and told me that it was absolutely wonderful food. So,we went to find out what a breakfast was... More

I've been to El Rey Sol several times and always come away disappointed. The food is mediocre at best, the service is fair, and the entire experience seems tired and dated. Prices are way over the top for what you receive and the waitstaff seems to be doing you a favor to serve you. There are many new and vibrant... More

I think this place has been here since the Aztecs founded tier empire. It is old, but still well maintained and has good food at reasonable pirces..

A simple, yet varied menu with large portions make El Rey Sol a great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner; home made pan dulce is delicious!

This is an elegant restaurant which provides exceptional service. The food is way above average but not 'GREAT'....as compared perhaps to restaurants in San Francisco or New York. It is an experience which should be enjoyed but is not a place where you'd go once a week for example.

We started with the escargots. They were OK but should have more lemon in it. The vol au vent were excellent also the pastry was a little doughy. The pasta plate with a filet had the meat overcooked and tuff. I came mainly because I read people raving about their pasties. When they brought them on them on the table,... More
