I've been to El Rey Sol several times and always come away disappointed. The food is mediocre at best, the service is fair, and the entire experience seems tired and dated. Prices are way over the top for what you receive and the waitstaff seems to be doing you a favor to serve you. There are many... read more

I think this place has been here since the Aztecs founded tier empire. It is old, but still well maintained and has good food at reasonable pirces..

A simple, yet varied menu with large portions make El Rey Sol a great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner; home made pan dulce is delicious!

This is an elegant restaurant which provides exceptional service. The food is way above average but not 'GREAT'....as compared perhaps to restaurants in San Francisco or New York. It is an experience which should be enjoyed but is not a place where you'd go once a week for example.

We started with the escargots. They were OK but should have more lemon in it. The vol au vent were excellent also the pastry was a little doughy. The pasta plate with a filet had the meat overcooked and tuff. I came mainly because I read people raving about their pasties. When they brought them on them on the table,... More

Surprised at how many breakfast reviews there are. This restaurant should preferably be visited for lunch and dinner in order to experience its magical old world charm, excellent service and ambiance that you are hard pressed to find in the good old U.S. these days. First, it's rather odd to find such an elegant French restaurant in a place like... More

We had breakfast on a Sunday Morning, the place was quite busy, however, our meal was served promptly. Constantly servers would be attentive to our needs without being on top of us.

Super touristy. Food's fine really. Not at all bad. But I think i spent $35 or so on breakfast for 2. In Ensenada? That's a lot.

They also have mexican cuisine. The french dishes taste and look real french. The same for pastries. You get tables with a tablecloth, real napkins... so expect to pay a little more than in a regular cantina.
