La Traite restaurant is unusual. Owned and operated by natives Hurons in Wendake, about 20 minutes north of Quebec City, it is set in a beautiful wooded area, near the shore of rivière Sainte-Charles. The setting is charming, with tasteful artefacts of the native tradition and the Fall foliage through the large windows was inspiring. My wife andI enjoyed an... More

After the museum visit we took lunch at this small restaurant; was a wonderful experience with local cheeses and fruits served with local bisquits; one word: delicious!

This restaurant offers an original menu. Everything in the plate was delicious. The service was courteous and thoughtful. The atmosphere and the decoration is a real tribute to the Wendat nation. Prices are reasonable for this quality of restaurant. A must see for tourists and everybody else.

If you want to work your way through a menu that is totally original and which features combinations that you will probably have never seen before, this is the place. It's a beautiful restaurant overlooking the rushing, raging Rivière Saint-Charles. There is a small, friendly bar for pre-dinner drinks and then the restaurant with its panoramic windows, roaring log fire... More

My wife and I were in Quebec City for a few days and enjoyed some very good meals but my favourite was definitely when we stayed in the Premiere Nations hotel and ate at La Traite. There is an excellent selection of wild game amongst other choices. I loved the seal starter. It was cooked kind of as a spiced... More

Have been twice to this restaurant. Once for the seven-course meal with wine-pairings, and once for the Sunday Brunch with family. Both were excellent. Out of the ordinary, the resto is in Wendake, a Huron Indian reserve. Fish and game meants prepared in traditional manner are delicious. Sauces use berries and other flavourings found in the wild, pair well and... More

"La Traite"--part of the beautiful new Wendake First Nations hotel -is indeed a treat even for visitors of the adjacent museum who are not hotel guests. The ambiance is as artfully designed as the entire hotel; the view of "wilderness" and a brook is a nice bonus. The food is exquisite--we had brook trout and, a special treat, local venison.... The four course menu that came with our "First Nation package" at the hotel was truly outstanding. I selected smoked eel as the first course. I never ate eel before but it was delicious, very delicate, absolutely delicious. The tomato soup, as second course, was very tasty, seasoned to perfection. The red deer meat for the third course was tender... More
