Trying hard and well worth a visit

The New Harp Inn has had an internal makeover which is not really in keeping with the normal vision of a country pub, but the result is that the space is maximised inside and out. As a pub and village stores/post office, there's definitely something here for everyone. It's also open all day. Food... read more

The proprieter chef is a real foody and delights in bringing fresh and local produce to a state that tantalises the taste buds. The slow roasted "wooly pig" is very flavoursome and the Hereford beef steaks are well matured and tender. On my last visit I had line caught plaice served whole on the bone which was cooked perfectly. The... More

Thankyou for your comments, Yes we try to source as much of our produce within 20 miles of us, most of our vegetables come direct from the farms on a daily basis More

We came across this pub as we wanted somewhere where we could sit outside with a view of the river. It wasn't exactly what we were looking for as you can only just see the river. However, we couldn't fault the food or the service. I am a vegetarian and had a fantastic falafel and spinach burger. It was nice... More

Myself and friends enjoyed a day in Hoarwithy for the Jubilee and were made to feel very welcome by the locals. Whilst it was a shame not to have been able to purchase the BBQ (even though we waited until the end of the queue due to locals) but this was accepted with no further questions. When we asked for... Management response:

Gatecrasher, you tried to gatecrash a private party and event, we were not happy about this we were under strict instructions that the village BBQ was for villagers for which we had a list. We also had a sign up and we were telling customers we were fully booked for the restaurant and bar. we were also expecting these comments... More

After spending a nice day paddling down the river wye, I was looking forwards to pitching my tent on the campsite behind the pub and enjoying some nice food and a beer. we went to the pub and found the staff to be VERY cold and not interested in manners, being polite or being friendly, the real sad thing about... We remember the group that came here, all that can be said is that zoo animals are better behaved and they they our in cages or behind bars! We were initially polite and welcoming to you, however when you pulled the curtains down for a second time our attitude changed, we have spent nearly £35k refitting this establishment and do... We are regular visitors(family of 5 from North Yorkshire) to Herefordshire over the years and for the last few have stayed within walking distance of the New Harp.Since Adrian and Belinda took over about three years ago the pub and restaurant(and now village shop and post office as well!) have gone from strength to strength. From the first time we... More

This was a rare opportunity to be a fly on the wall in a proper working restaurant kitchen. Hands on dabbling with the food being prepared for your lunch was optional, but encouraged. We baked our own bread with a seasoned baking expert (Alan) and Adrian was brave enough to let us fillet fresh mackerel with his own razor sharp... More
