Great food, excellent location, facilities and staff

The carvery was very nice and very reasonably priced, they made a special kids sandwich for my son who has food intolerances, good baby change facilities and 2 very polite and helpful gents who served us making it an excellent Sunday lunch out. Will be back for sure.

I stopped in The Boat on the way back from a business meeting, in search of a bite and somewhere for a conference call. I struck lucky on both counts, good wifi and good atmosphere (no phone signal though, so good job on VoIP). But the major triumph was the venison and puy lentil pie, which was just fantastic. Great... More

Unfortunately when booking we were not told the Sunday menu is different from in the week so somewhat limited. However they allowed most of us (a party of 7) to customise our dishes to suit either dietary needs or personal taste. The service was perfectly acceptable but a little slow, the food was excellent and very well presented however the... More

This is the second time we have had a group gathering at The Boat. On both experiences we all had a great experience. The waiter is very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent with good portion sizes.

Providing a "traditional Sunday lunch" as a vegetarian shouldn't really be difficult. (It isn't as though there aren't quite a lot of us.) All you need to do is not roast the tatties in animal fat, and provide a little nut roast or cutlet to go with all those lovely vegetables, plus some vegetarian gravy (honestly, it can be Bisto,... We visited for Sunday lunch in November, having never been before. Initial Impressions were good but these rapidly deteriorated. The beer served was clearly off, although the "barman" didn't notice or really understand. The "waiter" who took our order didn't seem to know anything and took several attempts to get it right. The soup arrived cold, not a word of... More

It was years ago that I first went to this pub. I stopped because it declined BUT it is back in my list of places to frequent. Well done on the renovations which have been done to preserve the rustic local atmosphere. The barman was happily chatting with two regulars/fishermen. The fire was lit. The welcome was immediate and involving.... More

I booked online and got an answer straight away. Staff, owner and waiters, were very understanding with our constant changes: table for nine, now we are five, seven in the end! Really nice place, good ales and nice food. The room we had dinner in was a bit chilly, that's my only complain. Well, it would be nice to improve... More

Enjoying a night out with mates on their birthday is great, but where to take them on their birthday poses a different challenge!!. The Boat Inn is situated down a small lane opposite the canal. The food was very good, I would recommend the boat platter for starters, it was delicious, and the Josh was very friendly and pleasant. If... More
