Very pretty but needs to smarten up its act

I was only here briefly for a lunch snack but I could see that they have some work to do. Although not really busy the service was extraordinarily slow and bizarrely they "only had 2 menus" for those like us inside and it took a good 10 minutes to bring them, and then it took forever to bring the... read more

On Thursday, 2nd July, we enjoyed an excellent meal with similarly rated service from extremely courteous staff who acted in an understanding, professional manner. Our only misfortune was to be seated near a group of six people, of whom two sounded suspiciously like they had PhDs in whingeing! Not only did they complain after finishing their perceived distasteful meal, but... More

Ate here the other day, was greeted by a warm and friendly member of staff who seated us with menus and informed us of what specials they had even down to the special sundaes! (go for the brownie sundae) We had the seafood platter to share as our started which was yummy! Then fish and chips, rump steak and king... More

Went to the Boat Inn on Saturday 20th June, For my husbands birthday with family and friends. Staff went out of there way to please us . Food was out of this world. After reading a report that the staff were unhygienic and presentable not sure where that came from. It seems to us that that they have the wrong... More

6 friends out for an evening meal, the glass of wine to start was served in extremely dirty glasses, service was friendly but the helpers were inexperienced and did not appear to have had much in he way of training. Two main courses arrived and had not been cooked?microwaved, and the centre was uncooked. It took an age to replace... More

This is one of the worst pubs I have ever been to, staff were rude and didn't seem to acknowledge we were there, they did not look presentable and came across as unhygienic. The meal was vile and not worth the long wait. I used to go to this pub under the old management and it was quite pleasant but... More

On Saturday early evening, 6 of us had a meal here and left without even having a pudding. First of all, nobody came to take our order, so we had to go looking for someone although it wasn't that busy. We had to wait ages for the food and when it finally arrived, my husbands chilli berger arrived it was... More

First time at the boat and I was pleasantly surprised. Although there was only 3 staff on the did a fantastic job during a very busy lunch time. They were all very attentive and polite. We had 3 carvery's and the Ribeye steak. The carvery was very good with a wide selection of vegetables along with 3 meat choices. The... More

This visit was in the evening,it was a lot busier but service for drinks and food was slow, (sign outside Recruiting staff) Food on the whole was very good--- 3 really good steak and fantastic triple cooked chips all nicely presented. However... More

Arrived at this pub for lunch for the first time, pleasant location next to the canal. We were seated by the window in the Bar room which had a lovely vibe, it was busy with an eclectic mix of punters. I was with an awkward bunch of vegans/ non gluten so etc, but they catered for us all, friendly efficient... More
