We visited for Sunday lunch in November, having never been before. Initial Impressions were good but these rapidly deteriorated. The beer served was clearly off, although the "barman" didn't notice or really understand. The "waiter" who took our order didn't seem to know anything and took several attempts to get it right. The soup arrived cold, not a word of... More

It was years ago that I first went to this pub. I stopped because it declined BUT it is back in my list of places to frequent. Well done on the renovations which have been done to preserve the rustic local atmosphere. The barman was happily chatting with two regulars/fishermen. The fire was lit. The welcome was immediate and involving.... More

I booked online and got an answer straight away. Staff, owner and waiters, were very understanding with our constant changes: table for nine, now we are five, seven in the end! Really nice place, good ales and nice food. The room we had dinner in was a bit chilly, that's my only complain. Well, it would be nice to improve... More

Enjoying a night out with mates on their birthday is great, but where to take them on their birthday poses a different challenge!!. The Boat Inn is situated down a small lane opposite the canal. The food was very good, I would recommend the boat platter for starters, it was delicious, and the Josh was very friendly and pleasant. If... More

My husband and I visited The Boat last weekend for a family meal with our daughter and son in law and I have to say what a lovely place it is. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was great, there was a gentleman playing the piano in the background which added to the atmosphere and the food... More

We visited on a Saturday night and were pleased that they could squeeze us in. When I asked for the wine list, there wasn't one and they had a choice of 3 reds. I asked for Shiraz, they gave me merlot and I swapped it. We ordered 3 rib eye steaks. Two medium rare and one medium. They all came... More
