Well what more can I say, this is the second time I've eaten at this pub, I was hoping it had improved, but sadly not.. Such a shame, will not be going back, you get better chicken at KFC!!

We had a family meal at the Red Lion and it was not a good time... nothing to do with the family but rather the food. Having been to the Red Lion in the past, and enjoyed the food, we were eagerly anticipating a hearty, good meal after a 3 hour journey up from the south coast. Oh the bitterness... More

The Red Lion is inviting from the outside and clean and well-kept inside. The menu looked really inviting and we anticipated our chosen meals enthusiastically. The service, although friendly, was chaotic - we ended up going to the bar and getting our bread basket ourselves as we'd waited so long for it. The bread was very tasty and came with... More

I have written a review for the Red Lion previously having been a frequent vistor. Today my family and I returned having not visited in a few months and were unfortunately left disappointed. The food was not as good as it used to be, some excellent dishes no longer on the menu, and what we did order just didn't quite... More

I went to the red lion on bank holiday Friday, with my 2 children, for dinner, on first impressions the decor of the pub, facilities and garden look very inviting. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. Our food was probably the worst I've ever eaten in a pub, it was far from fresh, my father ordered the fish and chips,... More

From when this restaurant reopened over a year ago under a manager called Patrick......it has gone from a good pub brasserie to pretty appalling and grossly overpriced for what you get. The menu is much the same but the food has gone downhill and the presentation ......and the staff....gruff and surly. I certainly wont be back and Greene King should... More

We have enjoyed the Red Lion a couple of times before and decided to give it a go again as Granchester is such a lovely place to be. So rocked up shortly after peak serving time on Sunday without a booking. Staff member was happy to accommodate us in the bar area where we understood we could still have the... More

Our entire experience from beginning to end was completely shocking. Having been here previously and enjoying it thoroughly, it made our meal even more disappointing as we had high hopes. Upon arrival, the staff were cold, unfriendly and we were made to feel like an inconvenience in terms of drinks, tables and food choices from the start. Two toilets were... More

The Red Lion has undergone some refurbishments, and the dining rooms feel modern, airy and light. The menu offers a wide range of pub lunch classics, which is exactly as it should be. A couple of points on service: upon arrival, we were told there was no booking in our name and we would have to wait... it took some... More

My parents wanted to eat here on our recent visit to Cambridge, as they have been several times before and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately we were disappointed on this occasion. We waited a good half hour for 3 ploughmans lunches even though we saw a larger group arrive after us and get their food (including ploughmans) first. We then had... More
