Description: This destination dining spot is set inside the historic Meikleour Hotel, a picturesque, ivy-covered inn located between Blairgowrie and Perth. The home-made bistro-style menu here attracts food-lovers from far and wide, and the cosy wood-panelled dining room - with its tartan carpets and white linens - has become a local institution. All the food here is prepared in-house, from the stock-pots to the puddings, and fresh fish is delivered daily from the boats in Aberdeen, and the wine list is hand-picked. Our second visit to this pub, a place clearly beloved by fishers from the Tay as well as locals. Service is very efficient and helpful, and the menu is simple but decent. Our starters of black pudding scotch egg is a particular favourite. We had mains of burger and fish and chips, both very decent portions and tasty. As we... More

This was our second visit here as we have family living nearby who introduced us to this restaurant. The food is excellent and there is very efficient friendly service from the staff. We have thoroughly enjoyed our meals on both visits and wish we lived a bit nearer to visit more often. Definitely worth a visit.

Dear Bernadette May I offer my sincere apologies that your visit with us left disappointment. We do try not to run out of items on our menu, but unfortunately in bust times these things can happen. You are right to mention the intrusion as you had coffee and we now ensure that our guest s are given a little more... More

Needed a casual dinner after 4 nights of fine dining that started our vacation (see Kinloch House review). Recommended by locals, Meikleour Pub was just what we needed on a Saturday night. Lively crowd about 1/2 just drinking the rest eating and drinking. Prompt, friendly service. "Lure of Meikleour" beer on tap with full body and mildly bitter. Medium cold.... More

Dear Nome Thank you very much for the nice comments about us, and I'm pleased to see the 2 things that are among my favourites here at the Meikleour. The Scotch Egg washed down by a full pint of the Lure Ale. You're right we like to keep things simple and honest but trying to achieve the best. We hope... More

My second visit and now a must do when visiting my uncle and family who live nearby in Murthly. Fish dishes are excellent. My daughter had a superb vegetarian pasta dish. The staff are lovely, the atmosphere is elegant Scottish countryside. The prices are reasonable and there is a good wine list. If you are touring Perthshire, a visit here... More

This is our first visit for quite a while. We had a lunch here shortly after the previous owners had left. Although fine it's was not as memorable as previous visits. However, taking my lovely lady out for a midweek lunch on the way back from Dunkeld meant passing the hotels door, it would have been rude to have passed... More

Dear Colin We are so glad you decided to give us another chance and delighted that we could turn it round for you. Transitions can be tricky, but we do try our best. The promise of a Pint of Gold Bead does help. Thanks again Greg More

Great food, fresh, well presented and lovely staff - especially Mandy. If I have one criticism it is the lighting in the evening, it's harsh and could be very easily rectified. Not that important but noticeable.

This is a quaint country hotel. We stopped for lunch on our way to Ballathie House and found the food to be good value and well presented.
