Just back from a fantastic meal from Tony Singh. Food and service faultless, well worth the drive out to West Linton, many thanks!

Yes it's a little out of the way unless you live in West Linton, trust me it's well worth the effort. The menu is short but it is better to do little well than a lot poorly. Great invention shown in many of the dishes with a real flair displayed by Tony. Staff were up with the best around.

Four of us had lunch at the Old Bakehouse yesterday following a friends recommendation, but were a bit apprehensive as I had very briefly read some poor reviews prior to leaving Melrose. A long way to travel for a possible poor meal. We had three courses each, bottle of wine and one coffee. Three of us had meals from the... More

My husband and I ate dinner here recently. Short(ish) menu with seasonal offerings with lots of tempting dishes. I had the chicken korma and my husband the lamb rogan josh. Both were delicious with rice and poppadums and sauces on the side. Even though we were full we both went for desserts as they sounded too good to pass up.... More

We enjoyed our trip to this out-of-the-way village spot on a windy Thursday evening. Cordially greeted, we were seated in an understated and comfortable dining room. The menu was far more reasonable and expansive than similar places - it's nice to see a restaurant confident enough to incorporate easy going fare like burgers alongside the signature dishes and finer cuisine.... I have now been here 3 times. Each time in the evening - mainly with my wife but once with friends who we were introducing to the restaurant. I can't understand the criticism from people who've read the menu and ordered from it - what's on the menu is very specific and the very helpful staff are keen to elaborate... More

My aunt and I use to visit The Old Bakehouse every time we stayed nearby and loved it. So after 3 years of not being able to visit we were looking forward to our visit. We were certainly in for a surprise. The owners have changed and some "celebrity" chef (Tony Singh whoever he is) has taken over. We took... More

Have visited several times since Tony Singh took over. Love the way the menu keeps changing & it's always difficult to choose what to have! Tonight we had the ribs & crab followed by the curries then some pungent cheese. All absolutely excellent & with the customary great service. We may be back tomorrow!

Great menu well cooked even when "him off the telly" ain't there as he wasn't when we visited. Front of house managed to be distinctly lippy - in an engaging & good way (interpreted our willingness to join the well-natured banter - I imagine they can interpreted a couples desire for quiet unobtrusive service too) Plenty of wines by the... I have to say I was a little disappointed i wanted to be WOOOWWW`d but I wasn't. I did enjoy my meal but it didn't blow my sock off. I started with the chicken wings with blue cheese dip at a hefty £7, they were tasty but im not convinced the tiny tub of blue cheese dressing was homemade. The... More
