You've just got to see this place - so amazing!

We stopped here for a coffee on the way to the Whipman activities - mainly the dog show. The staff were very welcoming and the place is unique and so comfortable. It is an original bakehouse with the original oven on display with the 'paddles' hanging from the ceiling. It was quiet when we were... read more

This is our second visit here and I'm afraid it's not much better than the first. The food is mediocre at best. Such a shame as this could be a little gem. Please, shorten the menu and cook things from fresh !

Rang the morning of Father's Day. Not a good sign that we got a table that same day and on arriving the place only had 2 other tables full. Food was mostly terrible. Cullen skink so thick you almost needed a knife and fork. Mashed potato was a frozen pellet type. Frozen mixed veg. Gammon was not even the size... More

We had had mixed reports of this restaurant before we went. However, we found it to be a good restaurant to go to for Sunday lunch. The service was excellent and very friendly. The menu had a good range of dishes and the portion sizes were reasonable. All of us enjoyed eating there and would happily go back.

The service was good and very friendly. I had the chicken and leek pie which was tasty but slightly runny. For pudding Inenjoyed the creme brûlée and pleased it was fresh and not precooked and chilled in the fridge. We thought the restaurant looked like it needed a little paint job and refresh, but overall recommended.

I think some of the reviewers must be living in some state of altered reality. My experience, and that of my 3 companions, was that the staff were some of the most courteous and friendly I've ever encountered in a restaurant...I'm 70 and I've eaten in a few. The food was excellent as well.

On our visit with friends recently we found the service and food excellent. The Management and staff were very friendly and the steak pie in Belhaven ale tasted superb. I work as a SVQ Assessor in customer service and give the Bakehouse top Marks. Mr W Weir

Returned here after s gap of about a year. It is under new management, people still go due to it's past reputation, but it has changed for the worse, terrible food and poorly trained staff. My wife's meal looked as if it had been left from lunch time and reheated. Instead of asking if we were ready to order, we... More

Visited this Restaurant for lunch today. Very pleasant waiter, polite & prompt in taking our order. We had a starter which was delicious & we were not disappointed with our main course. The owner's wife popped out of the kitchen for a chat....said they had taken over the restaurant in Nov of last year. We will definitely be returning.
