Two Rules of Good Service broken

First rule try and serve the mains together not until your three companions are one third through eating theirs. Second, a seafood restaurant should not be running out of two staples, crab claws and sea bass,on a mid-week, quiet night. Pity as the food itself is excellent and the staff are very... read more

This has been on our tick list for so long and we were so NOT disappointed with our Friday lunch. Chowder and salmon for starters. Hake and cod for mains washed down by strawberry cider :) Lovely restaurant with extremely welcoming staff. Although a tad pricey - Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed a fabulous meal here Sunday past for Papa's day with my wife. Starters of crispy squid and also scallops with orzo. Absolutely lip smacking good. Followed this up with Hake for mains which was faultless. The Parmesan and truffle oil fries are to die for. Accompanied with the usual friendly efficient and attentive service, we were both well satiated.... More

Visited with friends, difficult if you visit in a big group as there's only one thing on menu that's not seafood and not everyone likes fish. We enjoyed it.....food nice, service grand. ..not many women staff which was a bit odd and our plates were lifted after the starters and not everyone finished. Friends said steaks delicious and mussels lovely....mine... More

Having eaten in the Belfast MSF bar a few times we took the opportunity for a wee weekend in Dundrum. It's a beautiful location, service was great, the waiting staff are very pleasant and friendly people. I opted for the scallops and orzo which was gorgeous along with the smoked hake, poached egg and potato croquettes. My hub had the... More

Attended with a party of six for birthday dinner. Food was good across the board. Would recommend the mussels, lobster and any of the desserts! Wine list very nice and affordable too. However, service was lacking, hence only 4 stars overall. Things like, not being given a lobster fork, repeatedly asking for things we ordered and waiting 30 minutes to... More

We only had a one course meal - which was more than adequate for us. Quality was very good and service excellent.

Well prepared and very fresh sea food, cooked to a high standard. Service a little slow but we were warned by the waiter- a hang over from the Irish Open Golf meeting in nearby Newcastle. However, the wait was worth it. Lobster tender and succulent, scallops delicious and full of flavour, mussels served with a variety of sauces to choice.

We ate there a couple of times during our stay. We found the menu quite comprehensive - and the service prompt and friendly however some portions were a little small. Nonetheless - good quality food..

The food was nice, but after reading all the reviews I gues I expected more. My chilli butter crab claws were not fresh in my opinion, but previously frozen and lacking in chilli. The mussels were good but I have had better. Hubby loved his smoked haddock main course, and I agree it did look good, but as I said,... More
