Great food. Pork belly, duck and sirloin were all cooked perfectly. Large portions. A treat for a special occasion.

We were at the Balloo House to celebrate a 70th birthday. Everything was perfect - the regional and seasonal food with a lot of local game - as wanted by us - was very, very delicious. The staff is very attentive, friendly and performed a perfect service. The atmosphere is cosy and still modern. It could not have been better... More

This was my 4th time at Bolloo House Restaurant over the past 2 years and I have been meaning to review it for some time. We were there for a set menu with wine. Every dish and every wine was spot on!! This is one of the best Restaurants in the UK and Ireland. The atmosphere is fantastic, Champaign in... More

Nice welcome and a roaring fire in the midst of a rainstorm. Food very good indeed and certainly not "too clever for its own good" nor indeed too "nouvelle cuisine". Will try the bistro downstairs next time just for a change but this is in no way a comment on the excellent ambiance and food upstairs.

First impressions were not good - as a dirty grubby stairway had to be negotiated!! But after that it was wow all the way. The salmon starter just melted in the mouth, as did the venison and the amuse bouche and pre dessert were unexpected little treats. The night finished with coffee in front of an open fire - it... This was our first visit to Balloo House and it will definitely not be our last. The food was fantastic, with the venison being the best we have had for a very long time. Presentation and service were equally as good. The restaurant itself is quite small but beautiful and the atmosphere is fairly subdued - not the place for... More

For an occasional treat Upstairs at Balloo House has to be the destination. Thankful this award-winning restaurant is on our doorstep and hope we can enjoy this gourmet experience again. Locally sourced ingredients in an exciting menu, with usually a taster of something else the chef is making, makes for a special dining experience. Everything was delicious!

I thought the fine dinning experience would make a nice birthday treat for my Husband, so I booked a table for four of us. The food was of a high standard and well priced, I particularly enjoyed the pigeon, and was pleased with the portion size as sometimes fine dinning doesn't always leave you feeling sated! I didn't really like... More

We hadn't visited Balloo House during the last few few years, and decided to try it for lunch. Balloo House has been operating since our teenage years in the 1970's when it was an old farmhouse converted into a pub. During the intervening years it has developed into a well known and popular pub /restaurant. I ordered the smoked mackerel... More
