We hadn't visited Balloo House during the last few few years, and decided to try it for lunch. Balloo House has been operating since our teenage years in the 1970's when it was an old farmhouse converted into a pub. During the intervening years it has developed into a well known and popular pub /restaurant. I ordered the smoked mackerel... More

To be clear this review refers to the 'Fine Dining' restaurant upstairs and not the pub / bistro. We have been going to Balloo for several years for special occasions and it has always been a favourite restaurant. We decided to go last evening for dinner and unfortunately it may well be our last visit. Danny has recently extended his... More

We had a little hitch we were booked in for the wrong night. So when we arrived for our restaurant table it was fully booked. So we ate downstairs in the Bistro. The food was still excellent the Guiness was great. The staff were very pleasant. The place was slightly noisey though.

My partner and I ate in Balloo House Restaurant on Saturday night and were extremely impressed. We love fine dining and wanted to try somewhere outside of Belfast as the Belfast restaurants are all starting to feel a bit 'samey'. What we experienced upstairs at Balloo was brilliantly executed creative dishes from a chef who clearly knows food and has... More

Had dinner here recently on the advice of a friend. Ordered a special meal with scallops and vegetables. The scallops were very small about the size of your pinky finger end. Not only that they were flavorless. The vegetables were bland as well. For the price this was a disappointment. It short it was not all that it was advertised... More

OMG - best meal ever at Balloo last night - "a taste of Strangford" - 5 course including crab, smoked salmon, scallops, monkfish and lobster - all beautifully presented. Service was excellent and Danny Millar came out at the start and end of the meal to talk to all diners - the man is a genius with seafood. The food... More
