You got to love fish for this restaurant

Visited here with my partner and best friend who I don't see very often. I have crohns disease and she has an allergy to dairy the rest of our party had no allergies. We found the menu quite limited as most of the food was too fussy....not enough old traditional classic dishes.....but what we did... read more

Delicious dinner in a nice setting. Excellent service. Family friendly. Famous in the area, apparently people travel significant distances to eat here due to celeb chef.

Living in Comber, we would eat here regularly. There would normally be a group of 6 or 8 of us and we have always had a great meal here. We find the bistro caters for all our needs with a broad menu selection, good atmosphere and attentive service, and overall I feel it is reasonably priced.

Ate at the Upstairs last year and the Bistro this year. Located in 'blink and you miss it' Balloo (even the sat nav can't find it) - the Bistro offers locally sourced inventive fare. Seafood and meat dishes were great and smoked haddock and bacon chowder was a real crowd-pleaser. Will be back.

Went on recommendation for a special anniversary meal to the upstairs restaurant. Expected it to be buzzing - like the bistro downstairs - but only 11 people there the whole evening leaving a distinct lack of atmosphere. We were greeted by having menus thrust at us with no greeting - just an enquiry as to whether we wanted a drink... More

I went for an evening meal with my wife and sister in law, the first time we've been there. It was a mixture of good and bad. My sister in law started with the soup which was an everyday vegetable soup. My wife and I both had the salt and pepper squid. The squid in a light batter was quite... More

We eat at Balloo maybe twice a year, and it's always lovely. This was no exception. I took my father, partner and two sons there for Father's Day last Sunday and it was just a lovely meal from start to finish. Service was friendly and well paced- we've occasionally in the past had slow service and have had to remind... More

Our family of four booked a table for lunch last Saturday. This was our first visit to Balloo House - it had been recommended to us by friends. We were welcomed on arrival and shown to our table. The menu was varied and there were 'specials' available - there was also a nice Kids Menu for our daughter. The food... More

We visited on a Saturday evening at a busy time. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was very good. We will definitely be back.
