Improving over the years

I have been to this restaurant many many times over the years and consider it the best restaurant in Northern Ireland. I always go away with a smile on my face after tasting amazing flavourful food. Portion sizes are good and I have never felt ripped off with poor service or bad food. The one and... read more

The odd time I go out for Sunday lunch I look forward to a roast lunch being made for me by somebody else. And it must be a roast, it is Sunday is it not? So our party arrived at 15.00 on the end of a 40 mile journey, famished. We are “pointed” towards our table, get seated and are... More

We went to Balloo house in November and the Sunday lunch was fantastic ... today it was worse that a frozen meal for one. It was simply terrible and the staff were to say the least going through the motions. At 2pm we were told there was no lamb and no beef left for the sunday special roasts - then... More

Due to my severe allergies I was nervous about eating here. However the staff went about and beyond my expectations and were wonderful! I was repeatedly checked and reassured by the waiting staff and I was given a menu from the kitchen. The chef had gone through the menu for me and clearly outlined the foods that I could and... on entrance to the restaurant it seemed very industrial ie dirty and dingy. The service was ok but the food was not of the standard it should be. Vegetables under done and when complained another amount of Brussel sprouts were brought to the table but were of the same standard. I know that the in thing is al-dente but it... More

Food is always exceptional upstairs at Balloo House and on a cold winter evening the welcoming staff and roaring fire was just bliss. The langoustines were mouthwateringly succulent, a special starter that will linger on my taste-buds for a very long time.

Visited on a Sunday eve at 6pm. and it was surprisingly relaxed. I expected the large family Sunday roast brigade, but thankfully they were absent! Everything on the menu was excellent and varied.. Large amount of fish dishes, but not all your usual - there was Brill & Coley amongst it. (I chose the Brill with garlic prawns and the... More

We hadn't booked , but we're able to be squeezed in . The venue was very busy, but this did not detract from the quality of service, the menu had a good variety, the food was faultless. The only negative is that the bar waiting area is very small . worth a visit advisable to book

Fabulous food in wonderful surroundings. Very friendly staff. Recently renovated whilst retaking the olde world atmosphere.

Visited here with my partner and best friend who I don't see very often. I have crohns disease and she has an allergy to dairy the rest of our party had no allergies. We found the menu quite limited as most of the food was too fussy....not enough old traditional classic dishes.....but what we did have was great. Really recommend... More
