My husband and I visited Balloo house for the first time this evening. The waiter who we spoke with on entering the restaurant was quite rude. I wanted to leave but my husband suggested we stay we were given the menus, and asked if we would like anything to drink? Thankfully, that was the last we seen of this "waiter" with... More

Visited Balloo for Sunday lunch, really tastefully decorated, and very friendly hosts. Large menu, which included many specials as well as a Sunday lunch menu. Had a selection of starters which were really nice. The main courses were generally good, with the exception of the lamb. I unfortunately got a very though and fatty rump of lamb. I reckon this... The food served at Balloo House continues to be top notch - we fly over from Dorset once a year just to visit! The service is friendly, attentive and welcoming, there is a large menu choice and the food is simply perfect. No idea how you produce such excellent food for such a reasonable price, but we'll be back again... More

We were treated to a lovely dinner here on Mothers' Day. There was an a la carte menu and a fixed 3 course menu available and an extensive choice from both. Starters included a fine chicken liver parfait, delicious pea and ham risotto and a tasty smoked haddock chowder. Lots of appreciative noises were made and we looked forward to... More

Arrived somewhat late for dinner but the staff managed to sort us out. Excellent food with a great taste. Staff were very helpful to us. Plus side we had some entertainment in the form of folk music.

7 of us dined at Balloo last Sunday for my Dads 81st birthday. We were disappointed by the slow service. Drinks order was taken and I had to remind the waitress to bring the drinks. Starters were excellent and after a long wait our dinner arrived. The lamb was so fatty it was returned to the kitchen. When the meal... More

Decided to book here after seeing it recommended in the book “Where Chefs Eat”. I can’t remember which top chef recommended it, but thank you for your wisdom. We had the set Sunday lunch which came in at £23 per person for a three course lunch. Not cheap for lunch but certainly worth every penny. The menu was comprehensive and... More
