was really looking forward to catching up with friends today and eating lovely food in Balloo House. I have only had really good food in the past, but today I didn't. I blame my choice, usually I have fish but fancied the burger today.. big mistake and side order of sauté potatoes not much better. My friends had Breads and... More

After eating there last night with my family I was very disappointed, we had for starters soup(tasteless) duck spring rolls(bland) crab linguine(lacking crab) and the scallops(pleasant) followed by our mains including their largest steak which wasn't very large, and overly salty pie, my sister would recommend the duck wellington however. Dessert was a citrus flavoured sticky toffee pudding. I was... More

Balloo House has retained the character of the building, the service and the food matches the buidling to a Tee. Recommend the Thai chicken, the quality of ingrediants and flavours were lovely..and its resonably priced.

Had a lovely night here in October. The food was yum! Staff were very attentive and a lovely bustling atomosphere in the bistro. Great value for the food you are presented with. Advise booking a few weeks in advance as there were people who hadn't booked turned away at the door.

If you are going at the weekend it's best to book a table as it's very busy and I can see why. the food is out of this world and very reasonably priced. I've paid a lot more elsewhere and received inferior food, the atmosphere is a very relaxed one, but don't fear, the service is excellent. Local produce is... More

This was our third visit to Balloo House, with my eldest daughter, who had not been before. I have never been to a restaurant where deciding on your meal is such a challenge. Apart from the menu, there were daily specials on the board which made chosing all the more difficult. The service is understated, but very good and compliments... More

Outstanding food, full of fresh flavour and cooked to perfection. The specials board is an excellent addition to the already extensive bistro menu. Friendly service and a lovely atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience. We're going to try the restaurant next!

Our family visited Balloo House again last Friday 19th August and we had another fantastic meal. I would recommend the ribeye steak which my husband reckons really is the best he has tasted. There are lots of fish specials and I had a gorgeous hake main course on our last visit. The two kids went for the homemade fish goujons... More
