We met with friends in Transkaroo restaurant based on trip advisor recommendations. We liked the atmosphere and the friendly welcome. We had the speciality slow cooked lams neck, a treat for eye and mouth. We selected a good wine for accompanying the food. This worked out nicely. We had a kind waiter but he was overdoing it a little, giving... More

We were two couples with three dogs between us, they were very accommodating of our dogs which is always a good start. Excellent starters - broccoli and blue soup, coconut curry fish cakes and the snails. Best started was by far the snail vol au vents. Mains - beef short ribs, chicken on rissoto, one fillet and one rib eye.... More

Been to Transkaroo twice, every time in the silly season (Dec '13 and now in Jan '15). The shortish menu (as it should be in a bistro-style restaurant proclaiming to serve good food) has some very innovative dishes and the food was really good. My wife had the lamb's neck, perfectly cooked and spiced and I had the short ribs,... More

Friends suggested that we visit this restaurant and we're very happy that we followed up on the suggestion. We sat outside, giving our children the opportunity to run around a bit. (There is a lovely tree to climb in the garden!) Our food was very good - my husband ordered the restaurant special, a lamb neck braised until meltingly soft.... More

We visited this restaurant during the January holiday for lunch on Saturday. The service was extremely attentive and friendly and we managed to get a table without a reservation. Menu is short with a lot of interesting choices ranging from pork belly, the (famous) lamb neck, teriyaki beef short ribs (which we ordered) and some great desserts. The food was... More

Found this little gem in Groot Brakrivier. Old train station converted to a stunning restaurant with scrumptious food at very reasonable prices. Service was superb, the setting awesome and selection of wines great. Their presentation of the food out of this world and at very reasonable prices. This is surely a gem on the east coast and can recommend it.... More

We have been to Transkaroo Restaurant a number of times. We found it quite difficult to book a table inside for 6 and due to popularity had to wait a week over the silly season. The menu stays the same and the prices are quite reasonable. The Transkaroo lambs neck is great. The pork belly is also always very nice.... More

We loved this place. Many restaurants in the area are tourist-filled and accordingly, the service and atmosphere suffers. However, this restaurant, located in the charming old train station, is unlike the rest of its ilk. Our waiter was polite and helpful, and even offered to hold our squirming baby so we could eat our food in peace... That must be... More
