Me and my family have been coming for many years to this little resturant and we have seen it evolve into the greatness it is today...:) I would like to thank you for this evening it was perfect. For starters I had the fishcakes wich had a pinch of curry and dipped in a wonderful mayo ..firing up my tastebuds!... More

Good food, good wine and a lovely atmosphere! I had the snails to start, and then the kudu for main, both dishes were delicious. My wife had the prawns to start, lamb's neck for main and crime brûlée for dessert, also great. We go here once a year when we visit South Africa, and we will be back next year,... More

We know the restaurant since many years being regular guests and rated it the best in the vicinity of Mosselbaai. Then the owner changed this year. The atmosphere is still nice and the service friendly. We found one new dish on the menue: ostrich fillet. But as we got tough ostrich steak instead of fillet we hardly could cut it... More

We were the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday lunch, and I would like to try again when it is a bit busier. Initially our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgable, but towards the end, stood in view of us looking at his watch and tapping his foot. We got the message that he wanted us out so... Our starters and deserts where fantastic, but the main course was an absolute disaster. Three at our table ordered the pork fillet wrapped in bacon with potato croquets and some sauce. The pork was SO tough, we could not cut the meat. All three plates were sent back to the kitchen, fairly untouched. Really a disappointment!!!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your comment on Tripadvisor. We appreciate both positive and negative comments, as we view them to help us to further improve our customers overall experience. We are very, very disappointed about your unfortunate incident regarding the tough pork. The reason for that is, for what it is worth, was that our... More

Excellent choice and freshly cooked food. I liked the fact that you went to the wine counter and selected the wine - however this may not be so easy when busy.

We really always enjoy this restaurant, since the service is excellent and the food very tasty. The last time I had broccoli and blue cheese soup, which was slightly too salty, but the pork springrolls and my husband's slow-roasted pork belly with cracklings were real winners.

We have had the good fortune to enjoy a few meals at this lovely, rustic looking restaurant. The food & service was fabulous and the relaxed setting is perfect. We generally try the restautant specialties or the specials of the day and none of them have ever disappointed. Would definitely recommend eating at Transkaroo if you are in the area.

This restaurant was strongly recommended by our guesthouse and it was certainly a good choice. We started our dinner with the Skilpadgies (lamb liver) which was very delicious as the liver taste was mild. We had ordered their specialties for our mains - Transkaroo (which is the neck of the lamb, not kangaroo meat!) as well as the slow roasted... More
