The wine selection is displayed and the menu is written on a wall. Service was fantastic (dankie Gerco) and great quality food at affordable prices. I had the fillet in mushroom and red wine sauce - I asked that the chips be changed to mash. Perfectly done veggies accompanied the meal. My husband had the pork belly and he loved... More

We chanced upon this restaurant at Sunday lunch time. Luckily they had a table for 2 scruffy holiday makers! The waiter was a gem - very friendly, pleasant and informative. The menu is interesting and we chose the Transkaroo special (lamb) and chicken with Gnocchi, 3 veg and a mushroom and leak sauce. Both were very good. The dessert menu... More

We were staying in Reebok for a few days en route to Shamwari. This is a small hamlet situated between Mossel Bay and Plettenberg bay, with a dirth of restaurants. Transfkaroo was recommended by a friend as one of the best restaurants in the area. As such our expectation was quite high and to be candid the food was quite... More

Food was wonderful, as is the classy, old railway ambiance. The transkaroo (lamb neck) signature dish just falls off the bone, and the teriyaki short ribs had zero need for a knife. Both served over a bed of mash and with veg and candied pumpkin - wow - this meal was perfect. The waiter helped us fit wine to meal... More

We were staying in Mossel Bay and drove out to this restaurant about 10 miles away. It was well worth the trip. The confit of duck was really good. The service was superb. Very attentive and we had the impression all of the staff really cared and were happy. They may well be family. Will return again if on the... More

We stopped over for lunch and what a suprise. The service was friendly and efficient. We had the signature dish and what a dish! It was Karoo lamb neck which was succulent, tasty and tender. I could have used a spoon to eat it from the bone so soft was it! I shall definately order it again! It went well... More

We met with friends in Transkaroo restaurant based on trip advisor recommendations. We liked the atmosphere and the friendly welcome. We had the speciality slow cooked lams neck, a treat for eye and mouth. We selected a good wine for accompanying the food. This worked out nicely. We had a kind waiter but he was overdoing it a little, giving... More

We were two couples with three dogs between us, they were very accommodating of our dogs which is always a good start. Excellent starters - broccoli and blue soup, coconut curry fish cakes and the snails. Best started was by far the snail vol au vents. Mains - beef short ribs, chicken on rissoto, one fillet and one rib eye.... More
