Go early!

The first time we tried to grab dinner, it was 8:45 (the kitchen closed at 9), but we were told that they had already cleaned up. It was disappointing because they had live music and the atmosphere with an open air balcony and really unique lighting appealed to us. The host was incredibly nice and... read more

Started with eggplant dip for appetizer with pita triangles; teens and adults all enjoyed. Dinners generous; ribs with tamarind glaze meaty. Watch out for fries; SALTY! Wahoo special amazing.

So glad you enjoyed. I wanted to clarify a few details for the audience here. Sun Dog Cafe and Virgin Fire Grill are co owned, but have separate kitchens. Sun Dog is more casual, with courtyard tables and an open air bar. The menu here is eclectic, and suited to our very small kitchen space. Virgin Fire Grill is more... More

I really liked this restaurant, the ambient was nice and the food was tasty. I had the chicken and shrimp jambalaya and my husband had the salt block (tuna, shrimp and steak that you cook on a hit salt block) and both dishes were very tasty. For dessert I had the passion fruit creme brûlée and it was delicious. I... More

Located on the second floor of Mongoose Junction this restaurant overlooks the street. We sat overlooking the street. It was our first night in town after traveling and waking at 3:00 am. Would have enjoyed it more if we were not so tired. Food was good.

Went for dinner on July 15th. A fun place. We sat on the balcony, which didn't have a great view (see the cars below) but the breeze was nice. Food was good - wife liked the chipotle pasta but I thought my jambalaya was just ok. Drinks were really yummy (I got a BBC). HUGE TV there so probably a... More

We were greeted by the owner who when we asked told us about how he came to St John. He was fascinating...the food was wonderful as was the ambiance. We will be back next year and the year after that and the year after that and the.,..

Based on a friends' suggestion, we made a reservation for Virgin Fire Grill on the final night of Carnival, July 4th. We were very pleased with our meal and so glad to escape the large crowds near the beach so we could enjoy a quieter, more romantic, atmosphere. We made our reservation on-line several days in advance of our trip,... More

Thanks for the great review and so glad you enjoyed! Some like it hot, and our menu lives up to our name with cajun, creole and caribbean influences. We also know while some like it hot, some do not, so we do offer a number of menu items that please a less adventurous palate. Hope to see you again soon... More

After a day in the beach we decided to try Virgin Fire for some cocktails and appetizers. The bar is nicely stock and they have a nice collection of cocktails. The sangria had a nice twist and the half off appetizers were a nice complement.

Excellent combination of sports bar and fine restaurant with classy live music and a lively crowd. Only open for dinner but your genial host Mike conveniently owns the adjacent burger joint for your mid-day munchies. If you want snacks or burgers you can get away as reasonably as anywhere on the island, but dinner with dessert and drinks will cost... More

Went for dinner AFTER July 4th weekend and no issues at all with crowded place. Food was quite tasty and reasonably priced. It was on the verge of being gourmet without being too fru-fru. Waitress was very attentive. Two of us did the salt block and really liked it and the owner brought it out and explained how to cook... More

Thanks for the visit and so glad you enjoyed all, including the complimentary champagne. You raised a good question on the tip. What occurred is that the computer did an auto gratuity on the service total and did not recognize the discount. For some guests, it's appropriate to tip on the service amount (after all, the gift is the wine,... More
