Great food. Service was off a bit.

This place serves creative food. Most everything has an Asian flair. The duck breast over noodles was great. We love fusion food so we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The high sunset view overlooking Cruz Bay is second to none. We were on a date night and not in a rush but the lack of attention... read more

We've been going to Asolare for years and just finished a very poor dinner there. The host was an unpleasant young man who essentially acted like he was doing me a huge favor to take care of my family. The wait staff was good but the food was very mediocre and overpriced. We love fine dining and don't mind paying... More

As St. John residents, my wife and I don't eat out all that often, mostly due to our hectic schedules, and when we do we usually opt for the more casual and yes, cheaper places rather than the fine dining establishments. We recently had a rare night off together and felt like doing something special so we decided to try... More

No one can argue that the view at Asolare is unsurpassed. But the stunning view is not the real reason I go. Having eaten there many times, I am hard pressed to find better, fresher, more unique fare anywhere in the VI. As a villa manager and long time resident of St John and St Thomas, this is not only... Asolare sits on a bluff, overlooking Cruz Bay, with its beautiful sunsets, boats going in and out.......idyllic. My friend and I went here tonight.....I had a corvina/kimchi appetizer, she had a goat cheeze/corvina app. For the main, I had a 45 day aged ribeye, she had corvina with a wonderful mushroom risotto. Dessert? Yes, please! I had a lavender/honey Creme... More

The menu is more ambitious than the performance, in my view. I had expected, based on how the menu described the dishes, more complex flavors. My experience did not confirm my expectations. Too much sameness. I had eaten at Asolare many years ago, but in my last visit, was disappointed in the food. On the positive side, the view is... More

As everyone has mentioned, this is a nice place to enjoy a sunset dinner. We made reservations for 530 and got to relax and enjoy dinner with a spectacular sunset over Cruz Bay. The service is excellent and overall we enjoyed our dinner. My favorites were the burrata appetizer, ribs and the chocolate mousse desert. The shrimp and grits were... More

We were able to sneak a last minute reservation in for the first seating - around 6pm. You need to take a taxi to Asolare because it's up the hill from town.. Everyone at Asolare was super friendly, starting with the bartender. One of the best little bars I've been too. Very intimate, with a great view overlooking Cruz Bay... More

Year after year, Asolare remains our favorite fine dining option on island. Manages to be elegant while avoiding stuffiness. Everyone mentions the view because it's simply spectacular. The food is consistently strong as are the cocktails. Always refreshing to find a bartender that can make a proper drink. Best praise of all? We look forward to returning again.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Asolare. I made a reservation a week or so before. I was travelling with my husband and 2 kids. I showed up at 5:30 since they take a reservation but don't reserve the actual table so they say to come early to guarantee a good table. When I checked in with the... More
