Laid back dinner with friends

We showed up with 11 people and had a great experience. Good choices for the kids and adults. The seafood fettuccine was delicious. We also had the fresh fish and added a Caribbean lobster tail. Yum. Everything was great all around. The margaritas were a little weak.

We were a large group, but overall we were underwhelmed by food. Tuna was overcooked for "rare and seared" and pasta with seafood was average at best. Maybe a smaller party may have better food quality, but I don't think I'd go there again.

We had dinner at the Fish Trap on a early Sunday evening and was a bit disappointed with the food and service. The waiter acted like he didn't want to be there and wasn't the best in recommending dishes to us. We had ordered the Grilled Wahoo and Beer-Battered Shrimp. The Wahoo had good flavor, but was overcooked and chewy.... More

We usually don't repeat restaurants but we went there twice. Awesome. We had the grilled wahoo, red snapper and the fisherman's platter. Make sure you ask for the potato cakes (not sure exactly how they are called) and have some scallops. They melt in your mouth!

The Fish Trap has been on our restraiunt itinerary since we started coming to the VI in the early 90's. The food is always fresh. The preparations are interesting and well done, but do not overpower the food. The fish is allowed to participate. My favorite this visit was the Wahoo. The Curry Pot was flavorful without being too spicy.... More

Fish Trap is a "must" when we visit the Virgin Islands. Interesting dinner specials each night, as well as menu mainstays. Very friendly, efficient staff.

The fish here is good but not amazing. I had a good grilled mahi sandwich, my husband had the fish and chips and our daughter had the jerk chicken (huge!). The portions are good, the fish is good. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would, but not 4. Like most places on St. John, it's outdoor seating, but they... More

Not a place I chose, but was willing to give it a try after mixed reviews. Service was okay, the waiter could use a shave, a bath and some better work clothes, had to ask for tea refill even when he came to the table several times and didn't bother to ask if I needed anything! The food was not... More

The atmosphere was a little lacking but food was very good. It's right in town and easy to get to. If you go there you should order fish. It's a short walk back to the main shopping area in St. John and it's a short cab ride from the Westin.

The dining experience was quite pleasant here, in addition to the food being excellent. The salmon that I ordered was perfectly prepared and indeed was some of the best that I've had in a long time. The key lime pie was wonderful! Though key lime is not usually something I quickly select, this was recommended by our server. I'm glad... More
