We asked at the front desk for a dinner recommendation within walking distance for our last night. The vix was recommended and I am so glad! The outdoor patio is beautiful and the food was delicious. It's a little out of the way, down a side street so we wouldn't have found it with the recommendation! Give it a try!

The service is a little slow but worth to wait. Food is very good! Nice plate design, good size, good coffee. It is open street concept, very pretty at night.

The food was very good - particularly the lobster dishes! Service was slow; however we did have a large group which may have contributed to the issue. Overall, I would rate it very good, and would definitely return.

Vix has a strange atmosphere as the bar is brightly lighted. We went there for cocktails and appetizers one night. The martinis were well made the the lobster roll appetizer was big and delicious. Once you get past the brightness, it's a fun/friendly place to go.

Visited The Vix for dinner and chose two starters for my meal: the tuna tartare and Caesar salad, both of which were well presented (really like the tin the tuna came in - unusual and inventive). Both tasted very fresh and the portions were much larger than I thought they'd be as starters. The addition of bacon to the salad,... More

Linda - you are a gem. You couldn't have done more for us, we really appreciate the effort you put in, and Jake - thanks for the Asian tasters ... perfect with a few beers!

I have to confess that I was drawn by the sharp logo and the advertisements in tourism magazines. On our second night, we took a taxi from the Gansevoort to The Vix. My advice? Save your money. The food was expensive but just ok and there were too many flies. No meal is enjoyable when you are constantly shooing flies... More

This restaurant could use a few lessons in how to service their clientele. The service was less than memorable the food was so-so. The waitress didn't circle back around to re-fill our water glasses or ask if there was anything we needed. And we were one of only two dinner guests in the whole restaurant. I suppose that was a... They make a great garlicky caesar salad. The goat cheese salad was also very good. We sat at the bar and had a casual meal. It was a bit quirky walking in. Nobody really acknowledged us so we went to the bar and sat to eat. I don't know if they have a hostess or manager as the waitresses seemed... More

We had a pretty good meal at the Vix. Nothing stood out as being really good or special but nothing to complain about either. All in all I would say it is an average restaurant in its price range.
