a long time good place to eat in Buccoo

The restaurant is run by an Italian family that has now lived in Tobago for a number of years. We have eaten here at least once on every trip over the past 15 years. All the food is home-made and is always great.

We have visited this restaurant on different occasions; I have never had a bad meal there but my wife's food has been very poor each time; we won't be going back. Overpriced

Overall, I found this place disappointing – quite overrated based on what I had heard of it. The little bites (olives, bruschetta, etc.) are nice, and the pumpkin soup was decent, though not earth-shattering. However, the vegetarian lasagna was quite disappointing – way too heavy – thick noodles in a thick, cloying béchamel sauce. I tried my friend’s Spinach Cannelloni... More

Excellent food, extensive wine list, great service. Setting is an open air patio connected to a dining room. Breezy. The owner entertains with menu descriptions in Italian English. Have anything pasta, especially seafood. Lasagna and cannelloni also spectacular. As good if not better than what I've had in Italy, Sf Bay Area or the Napa " wine country". Worth the... More

After making my reservation and arriving for 8:30 I got my main course at 9:45 to be exact. I had a pumpkin soup to start, it was a purée that you will feed to a baby. I didn't enjoy it. It was not a soup consistency. To ease the long wait they brought out olives and bread etc which were... More

A lovely space, and extensive (if expensive) wine list. And some nice touches (a couple of complimentary nibbles at the start of meal). But the pizza main was truly dire - like a really poor economy supermarket version. Dessert (tiramisu) was pretty ordinary. And the bill was the biggest weve had in Tobago. (Service and tax hiked it all up... More

We had a great evening here and really enjoyed our interactions with the owner/head chef who was very welcoming and chatty. The wine is really expensive! We went for one of the cheaper bottles and it was delicious. I would advise if you don't know what you want to talk it through with the staff. We were given a complimentary... More

Given all the hype about this place we decided to try it out and were slightly disappointed. The food wasn't bad but not up to expectation. We both had pasta as our main dish - and both were a bit lacking in flavour. The seafood pasta was bland with no real *seafood* taste and the lamb with penne was simply... More

On our third trip to Tobago and been to La Tartaruga each time. The food is remarkable absolutely fantastic - words can not describe it! The wine list is amazing as well. Overall this is not a cheap night out but is such good value for money as the service and overall experience is well worth it.

Visited in January with my wife. Went to try their ravioli but it has been removed from the menu. The servers were very friendly and meals arrived quickly. The food was good but lacked the wow factor which we were seeking. The chef checked on us a few times which was welcomed. An okay dinner but we left expecting a... More
