Aside from having one of the best desserts I've ever had (this was the first time I've ever had dessert twice!), this restaurant is one not to be missed when visiting Tobago. Only open for dinner, La Tartaruga serves up homemade pasta in various delicious manners, not to mention all of their desserts are also made from scratch. The portion... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant when we were going to Sunday school. It was by far the best meal we had in Tobago & we think possibly the best meal we have ever had whilst on holidays. The food was delicious & the service superb (service was lacking in many establishments we visited in Tobago). The Italian owner is very... More

A good Italian menu, with lots of fish/seafood options. Note small portion sizes generally. Family owned and run, by a couple and their daughter. The lovely daughter was rushed off her feet throughout the evening, though was highly efficient in getting around to everyone. The food was excellent in all respects - we had ravioli and shrimp on a curried... More

A superb dining experience – our favorite place to dine on the island! While we love Italian food, when we are vacationing in the Caribbean we usually like to eat more of the local food and purposely stay away from the types of food we can get back in the states. However, we love our wine and could not pass... More

I have to say, we were hesitant to try an Italian restaurant in Tobago -- the last thing we wanted was food we could easily get in NYC. But the fish carpaccio, grilled shrimp in pumpkin soup, and fresh pasta won us over. The owner is a super enthusiastic guy who loves to engage. Overall, a great dinner with the... More

We are not too particular about wine anymore, but if you are, this place has won the Wine Spectator symbol of Excellance for many years. Best wine list (Italian) in the Caribbean! We opted to go with the house Gava, which was affordable and enjoyable. Pizza and bruschetta starters were ordinary - 3 stars - but the entrees were excellent.... More

Enthusiastic host and had been recommended, however starters were tasty but the pasta course was disappointing considering the owner is a native Italian, homemade deserts very nice, on the whole overpriced.

A relaxed but v professional, genuine Italian restaurant with simple but delicious food and service. Atmosphere is almost homely and the wine is excellent. I didn't see the bill so not sure about the prices.

Small genuine Italian resturant with good food and wine. Avoid the pizza unless you are feeding kids. Rest is great and enough to bring us back twice. Owner is charismatic and warming. Follow his advice on wine. I normally take a brunello but at over 1000 TT its a bit pricy. Tell the owner your taste and budget and he... More

We visited Tartaruga 26 Dec 2012. This is a true 5 star TA rating! We had the vegetarian lasagne and spinach cannaloni. Both were heavenly. The owner served a couple of apetazers which also were great. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Would recommend making reservations.
