Description: Grand Old House, formerly known as Petra Plantation, is one of Cayman’s most beautiful and well known historic homes. Petra literally translated means gem, rock or stone. The Biblical city of Petra was described as a place of refuge. Our Petra is also a place of refuge, providing your senses with five star dining, soft piano music and colorful sunsets. Like biblical Petra, ours is located on the rock or “ironshore” as we call it locally, but overlooks another gem; the sapphire depths of the Caribbean Sea.

We caught a last minute reservation at Grand Old House the night before they closed. They were having a large happy hour/party on half of the deck and had sectioned the other half off for dinner customers. Our meal was to die for. The red snapper and 8oz filet were perfect! Sadly, the service was a bit lacking because of... More

Thanks very much for your review. Apologies for the poor service, we had a large crowd for our annual season closing happy hour. We reopen on Monday October 6th, hopefully you have a chance to be back so that we can amend. Hope to see you soon More

The concierge at the Marriott suggested the Grand Old House as our best option for a romantic dinner to celebrate our actual anniversary night here in Grand Cayman. When we arrived, we were seated on the deck, in a private alcove practically overhanging the waves crashing into the rock covered shoreline. Our server was Nino, a yound gentleman from northern... From the picture perfect sea-side deck with the sun setting beautifully in the distance, to fine table setting, the delicious food, perfect portions and the attentive, friendly staff.... everything was simply perfect. Being from cattle country, I find it difficult to find really good beef; this filet mignon was the best beef I've had in years. My partner's short ribs... More

This was our first time eating at this restaurant. This trip was a celebration of my daughter graduating HS and going on to college so we wanted a special night to celebrate and this place did not disappoint. Everything from providing Proseco when we sat down to the menu selections to the attentiveness of our waiter was absolutely wonderful! There... More

This is located a bit off the beaten path about a 10 minute ride south of Georgetown but worth it. We arrived about 6PM and it did not start to fill out until close to an hour later. Seating on the back patio is a must with incredible waves breaking on the volcanic rock and the sun setting behind you.... More

We've eaten here on every trip we have taken to the Caymans since our son was 4 years old and they had a different deck (he is now 16). The food is always spectacular, the view incredible and the service impeccable. This time was no different. My son had the crab crusted marlin and my husband and I both opted... More

We've been to the Caymans three times, and have always gone to Grand Old House for dinner on our last night there. This time, we were reminded why we have this little tradition by the absolutely spectacular meal we had there. Dinner was served on the terrace that the restaurant has built out onto the rocks overlooking the sea. We... More

We had a wonderful dinner here with a work group. Our large group (12) took up about a third of the outside deck, but it was not too much for the restaurant to handle. The service was excellent. Our food was fabulous.......try the bacon wrapped wahoo. And the view and ambience of the water was terrific. A GREAT evening was... More

The service was very good and really the highlight of our dining experience. The staff was very attentive to every request we had and honestly seemed concerned that we were not enjoying our food. My wife and I consider ourselves healthy eaters. We prefer sauces and dressings on the side and try to stick to grilled and steamed foods. Many... More

We had heard this place was overrated during our last trip here in Nov so we didn't go. This time we decided to check it out by just having a drink at the bar. This place is beautiful!!! The bartender was so nice and the drinks we had were by far the best we had anywhere on the island (one... More
