Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

Having worked in the chocolate industry I was very excited about a trip to this plantation. Reading the website it reads like you can just wander the trails on the estate if you visit, so thinking we would do lunch and then take a walk we were bitterly disappointed to be refused any access to the estate or even hotel... I had read about this restaurant in Island Magazine and as a chocoholic couldn't wait to go. The tour which included grafting a tree and making a chocolate bar was fantastic. The restaurant is worth eating at for the view and food presentation alone. I had the Roti and thought it was flavorless. The 9 course chocolate desert was very... More

I appreciate the balanced review (high rating for the Tree to Bar, the view and the dessert) and do apologise for the service. We have assessed why this happened and made improvements. More

We went to Hotel Chocolate for the tour and food. The tour was great, we really enjoyed making our own chocolate bar. Best tour of this kind I have been on. After the tour we stayed for lunch at this beautiful restaurant. Definitely the most beautiful setting I have ever been at for lunch. I was disappointed in the meal.... More

Every dish has cocoa nibs/ powder as ingredients..Boucan is chocolate heaven...Menu is cleverly crafted not overdoing the chocolate theme...I had mahi mahi escebeche and my wife had cocoa ravioili n tomato sauce..Food was great but the portions were bit small..We also had hotel chocolat's sparkling wine and few cocktails...We had a chocolate tasting plate for desserts! We loved this restaurant - it has amazing food w/ a unique twist...everything has cocoa! We ate here several times because we couldn't get enough! One night there was live music, which was a nice touch :)

Had two great lunches at this beautiful hotel. The scenery is gorgeous, the staff friendly and food yummy. The burgers got very high ratings as did fish and chips, as well as roti. Needless to say the chocolate desserts were mouth-watering and morish, though it is the cocoa vinegar for bread dipping that was my favourite taste experience. Staff were... More

Loved everything from the cocktails to the desert. The chef incorporates cocoa into all the dishes but you don't have to love chocolate to love the food because it is done so cleverly. The view is absolutely gorgoeous. Maybe the best view in St. Lucia. Get there before the sun goes down so you don't miss the sunset behind the... More
