Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open...
Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

The food was good, the atmosphere was modern. We sat next to the edge by the railing which was so high you couldn't see over and I'm 5'8". The balsamic/chocolate sauce they bring out is superb...pretty silly they don't sell it! My biggest complaint is the walk from Ladera is SO dark...no lights at all and we didn't have a... More

This restaurant was on the top of our list. We arrived for breakfast at 9:15 and were told that they could not accommodate us. We asked why as there were many seats available. The receptionist just repeated that they could not accommodate us. We were very disappointed. We left and had a lovely meal at Stonefield Estate.

While staying at nearby Jade Mountain, we ventured outside the resort complex to sample the fare at Boucan. I have to say that I was glad that we had not booked a meal plan at Jade and which allowed us to venture off site to this magnificent restaurant set beside the Hotel Chocalat on the main Soufriere to Vieux Fort... We stayed across the street at Ladera, but tried Boucan to change up our dinner options. A great decision! Boucan has a very modern vibe to the decor and great view of Petit Piton. Although service was a tad slower than expected 'island time,' our meal was outstanding. It started with the toasted bread served with a few choco-inspired dips.... More

A great choice for dinner if you are staying near Soufriere on St Lucia. We stayed at Stonefield Estate Resort, and dined here twice - once to try it out, and the second time because the first visit was so nice! For appetizers, my wife and I really enjoyed the citrus salad and the gazpacho. The Duck and the Creole... More

We did the 'make-your-own-chocolate' tour at the Hotel Chocolat in St Lucia and stopped for lunch in the hotel's 'Boucan' restaurant. The staff are friendly (isn't everyone friendly in St Lucia?), courteous and efficient. The meals are delicious and the presentation of the dishes would be hard to better. I know that sounds a bit over the top but I've... More

Great service and nice to experience something a little different than just 'catch of the day'. Innovative ingredient-mixing and beautifully fresh fish and meat. The ambience wins compared to other Soufriere places that we visited...it's smart casual but has an air of lol, quiet refinement that comes with visiting a boutique hotel. Great concept.

Excellent food! Loved the cocoa nibs in almost everything they serve. The chocolate is so subtle you don' always realize it is there. Service was excellent as well.

I travel to St Luxia a few times per year, and Boucan Restaurant is one of my favourites place to have a nice dinner. I would recommend to anyone to try once this place, great food, great atmosphere, and great service.
