Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

We stayed at the hotel for seven nights and ate here every night. The food was first class and the service was excellent with a laid back Caribbean feel.

For our last night in St. Lucia and to celebrate our anniversary, I made reservations at Boucan with high expectations after the amazing food and service we received at comparable restaurants at Jade Mountain and Ladera. However we were very disappointed with the menu and service. Menu - The concept of incorporating cocoa in all dishes is great, but there... More

We always take reviews at face value but it's a bit unusual to make a comment about a menu not changing when you are dining for one night only and the menu contains about 30 dishes? More

We were staying at Sugar Beach resort for our honeymoon and ventured to Boucan Restaurant & Bar for dinner one night. The food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was wonderful. One of the best meals of our trip!

We ate here after taking a tour of the estate. The food took a long time to arrive but it was lovely when it did. We only had a main but the starters and desserts that other people around us had looked very nice. The food was nicely presented and tasty and we liked the addition of the coca grinders... More

We sat, 7 of us, under the petite piton and ate probably the best fish i have ever eaten. The creole fish was beautifully displayed and eaten with enormous satisfaction. Starters were different and re-fills welcomed (which was delightful). Desserts came with a story of their own and held a high place in my general experience of deserts. Service was... More

Thanks very much. The Creole Fish is very popular. We try to instill a more intuitive and less intrusive form of table service, but seems we were a bit too invisible on this occasion, apologies. More

We ate in a group of 8, in November 2014. Our starter came out in stages. Some of the mains weren't warm, and the duck, the most expensive thing on the menu is very disappointing (not even a full duck breast). Desserts are Ok but not as good as they should be. Overall, very average, and disappointing considering the price.

Very disappointed that we did not meet your, rightfully high, expectations of us. We have looked into the detail of the duck and checked our portion size. More

Within the context of St Lucia this is a fantastic restaurant and as the title suggests does not solely rely on having a great view in order to be good. We just went for lunch and the food was good and the restaurant has a classy up market feel with a lovely panoramic view over the smaller piton. Although shaded... More

We had dinner here one night; we were staying across the road at Ladera. It was just a short walk and well worth it. Service was a little slow as it seems to be across the entire island, but the food was amazing.

We visited boucan from ladera across the street and found it to be a beautiful super Eco resort/ plantation property. The Phone decor and menu blended very well with the chocolate concept, though we found some excecution challenges. I ordered a creole kingfish entree which was over cooked to the point of sawdust. I also felt the sides and garnish... More

A fun and classy spin on island cuisine incorporating chocolate into everything! Try to plan it so that you eat on a night with live music!
