Description: Perched high up between the Piton mountains, The Boucan Restaraunt is open to both residents and non residents. Boucan is The Hotel Chocolat’s own restaurant, where guests can experience Cacao Cuisine. The word “Boucan” refers to the traditional West Indian name for a cocoa drying facility. The restaurant is built on the site of the Rabot Estate’s original Boucan. Boucan is also linked to “boucaneer” or “buccaneer,” the local pirates that would smoke and dry their food to preserve it for long trips at sea. The Boucan offers a strong connection with cacao and chocolate. For over 3,000 years, cacao has been used as a savory ingredient and for 500 as a sweet ingredient. The menu explores both, with the chefs taking their inspiration from the fresh cacao growing all around the estate, together with amazing local fish and seafood, salad leaves, vegetables and plentiful fruit. However the cuisine is far from cocoa heavy. The menu often makes use of cacao as a light, subtle spice or as an infusion. The desserts make full and imaginative use of the estate cacao, with each evening meal rounded off with the day’s new chocolate creation. Boucan’s breathtaking minimalist design includes a soaring roof inspired by the shape of the cacao tree, with its branches reaching to the sky, and shaded by the lush rainforest canopy. Its high platform is a centre stage for the Big Nature views all around.Dining at the Hotel Chocolat's Boucan Restaurant, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or the fabulous sundowner cocktails, is an experience to be shared and cherished. We passionately believe we are certainly offering something very different at Boucan. The dress code is smart/casual and ladies a cocktail dress is never out of place!

While all of the dinner meals we had in Soufriere St. Lucia were expensive, the quality and innovative food, the variety of the food and drink on the menu, and the use of the local cocoa was fantastic. After the first night we ate here (and two bad experiences elsewhere) we booked reservations here for dinner for the rest of... More

From beer to butter to flavored oil, bread and more… don't hesitate to try something that sounds strange. You'll be amazed at how well the flavors blend. We'll go back on our next trip to St. Lucia!

This was an impressive open air setting. The food was very good, with everything having a bit of cocoa in it. I believe this was a cocoa plantation at one time.

It's no exaggeration to say that it is Saint Lucia's oldest cocoa plantation (Rabot Estate) and more active than ever in its history. Saint Lucia's premium cocoa was always blended with other cocoas until we made the single origin Saint Lucian chocolate bar in 2008, sold under our Hotel Chocolat brand in the UK and US. It is available today... More

This restaurant served us great food and mouth watering deserts...chocolat chocolat. We dropped in with no reservation and we were lucky. Even though they were busy they found a way to accommodate us. Reserve in advance so you be disappointed. Open air restaurant with a decent view of the Petit Piton makes it even more charming.

We didn't stay at this resort but went to learn about chocolate and their "Tree to Bar Experience". For $160 US for two, it was great! The group was taken into the cocoa fields and shown how pods are chosen and picked. Then comes the fermentation. We even got to 'splice' our own trees together which are labelled and dated.... More

The food was fabulous. I have no complaints about the quality and taste of the food. It was very expensive and the service was a little slower than I would have liked. However, I still recommend eating here as everything is made with some sort of chocolate!

It's more cocoa based than chocolate and we agree, cocoa is a fabulous savoury ingredient as well as being the secret behind luscious chocolate. As growers we are a little obsessed about cocoa and glad you enjoyed too. More

I went to Boucan with my boyfriend on our last night in St. Lucia. We dine out at great spots at home in Boston, as well as during travels, and we both agreed our food experience at Boucan was one of the best dinners we have had in our lives. Everything we ate, and drank, was beyond awesome. Had I... More

Really appreciate all the details you have pointed out for others. It's true that we don't build in a service charge as we pay our team a proper salary and want to build a true service culture, allowing the natural Saint Lucian warmth to shine through. We have a Cocoa Bar-Cafe in Newbury St, Boston - would be great to... More

What a lovely experience at Rabot Estate Hotel Chocolat! Loved making our own chocolate bar & the 3 course lunch was delicious! Every course contained cocoa in it somewhere! Beautiful restaurant & surroundings! Would definitely recommend!
