The Mesón Español is an institution in Mayagüez. It open its doors in 1975 and since then has prepared traditional and delicious Spanish cuisine. Doña Inés, the mother of the owner and management is in the kitchen, whcih makes it more special. However, sometime you can notice when Doña Inés is not in the kitchen. Nevertheless, I believe it is... More

The medallones were really good (they give you 2 fair pieces with mushroom sauce) and my friend ordered the Jacobo, which he liked and the portion was really good. I also ordered the Sangria, not the best I've tried. I will not order it again but will be back to try other plates.

I will agree that the food here is not the best, in fact, the only dish I like here is the Chuleton (Rib Eye) specially cut for them. It is REALLY GOOD. I only go there for the tapas. The butifarras, with a hint of cinnamon are unequal. Also try the tortilla española and special tapas. Their wine list is... More

A co worker adviced me to visit this one based on my personal likes for paellas and sangria. The environment and accesibility are good, parking options as well. The restaurant is located at a mall and is close w/o any outdoor view, quite dark an cold. We asked for some tapas, average for me. The sangria was from fair to... More

Great for romance and family. Basic good tapas and sangría. I go there for the chorizo, wines, croquetas, caldo Gallegos. The main plates are good but nothing special, except for the paella (which you have to order by calling). The paella is very good but a little pricey in my opinion. One of the best few places to go eat... More

The place is very clean. You have to try the "San Jacobo" and the "Osobuco". The croquetas are very good. Everything can be taken with a refreshing Sangria.

The best paella in town, I mus say in Puerto Rico. Service fairly good. Food excellent. The entries are extremely good, try the home cured Jamon Serrano.

Whenever I visit PR I have to go to this place. The French Onion soup, San Jacobo (stuffed fillet with cheese, pimiento and asparagus) and Sangria is TO DIE FOR! It is not cheap, meaning that a dinner plate will be ~$20 but it is worth it.
