Good Outdoor Lunch Site

My wife and I walked a short distance from our rented apartment for lunch to El Picoteo where we had eaten on a previous San Juan visit. We ate outside, under a shading cover and over the lower level official dining at El Convento Hotel on Calle Cristo. We had a mojito (plus a Heineken to dry my... read more

My husband and I had eaten at El Picoteo on earlier visits to PR and knew that on a hot, sunny San Juan Sunday, the setting would be calm and refreshing, and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was Frances--knowledgeable, friendly, and really delightful. We ordered the pizza, the white bean hummus, and the chicken croquettes. All dishes were excellent--we... More

Lovely restaurant in an old convent. Even though the day was very hot, it was wonderfully cool in the outdoor courtyard. We had the Cuban sandwich, the beef tacos and the fish tacos. They were all very good. Great service too. We wish we had stayed in the hotel, it looks charming.

OK, we were just going to get 1 tapas and split, the Jamon Ibirico @ $14 plus mojito x2. Then go on to another spot for another snack. They started cooking some shrimp in garlic and we had to try that. So add 2 more mojito. I don't know if it was the mojito or the food tasted really good.... More

Worth the visit to sit in the beautifully restored lobby of the hotel. The food is fine but nothing memorable.

In Old San Juan sightseeing and saw a recommendation for this restaurant in Fodor's. It did not disappoint! There were five of us dining and I think we ordered nearly everything on the menu. The food is delicious and the sangria was perfect! I would HIGHLY recommend stopping here...even if it's just for drinks.

The restaurant is inside the lobby of the Hotel Covento, very pretty place. Ambiance is great, paella was really good and they were flexible about holding some ingredients.

We can here a couple times during our short stay in San Juan. The food was always fresh and flavorful. All the seafood dishes were incredible and they have a great selection of wine to choose from. We sat out on the patio to people watch and enjoy the great Puerto Rican weather.

My Dad and I came here for a drink; we had dinner reservations elsewhere. The service and cocktails were great. Thanks for taking care of us!
