Great Atmosphere

We dined here while staying at the el Convento. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic. Lighting is beautiful. The menu offered an adequate selection of both cold and hot tapas. Most of our selections were very tasty. We actually ordered one cold tapas and two hot. The hummus was... read more

I went again to this place because the first time I came the tapas I ordered, worth it. But this time not, I ordered two different "pizza" or coca and taste not good enough for the price ($16.00 each one). The pizza bread taste like frozen one. The only thing I like it was the service. Also the cheese don't... More

Nice open air setting within the courtyard of the hotel. Only problem is if it is really hot, you have to find a seat with a breeze otherwise it can be a little stuffy. In terms of the food, it is very good. Shrimp plates were fantastic as was the paella. Nice staff.

Picoteo is located in "El Convento" hotel in Old San Juan, but it is open to all public. It is located on the 3rd floor of a big plaza, so it is an open setting with a nice breeze, but there is no A/C. We enjoyed a variety of puertorican appetizers and they were all delicious. My favorite was the... More

Great food and atmosphere. It was a little on the expensive side, but the tapas selection was good. We should have stopped before we ordered the Paella as it was too much food at the end. The Sangria, house specialty, was the best that I have ever had.

Try the fresh mango mojito margarita. We had manchego with honey, excellent and tender pulpo de gallega, and finished off the meal with coconut tres leches. Excellent service.

The ambiance was nice; however, the food was too salty. The drinks were OK. If you're going there to grab drinks and hang out, good choice. If you're looking for great food, not the best option.

We ate here while staying at Hotel El Convento. We ordered a few tapas and frozen cocktails the afternoon we arrived, and they were all excellent. It was a great place to unwind, cool off, and relax. Restaurant is covered open air in the middle of the hotel courtyard area on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Service was good,... More

Located in the El Convento Hotel, with outside dining, under cover. The tapa's menu was plentiful, service was good, and the atmosphere was refreshing. Most of all, each of the 6 tapa's we shared was very good and tasteful.

We were excited to check out the unique El Convento setting & enjoy some much needed refreshment after trekking around Old San Juan. The setting was very nice, but the food didn't seem to be anything special although it was tasty for the most part. Probably not worth the pricey bill though.
