What a great dining experience. The tapas restaurant is located inside the El Convento Hotel in the upstairs atrium. Great atmosphere, service and food. The garlic shrimp is wonderful. So much to choose from, you really can't go wrong.

At the Hotel El Convento, this little tapas bar had fantastic service--friendly, efficient--and a pretty interesting selection of tapas and plenty of ice cold beverages! The best was the garlic shrimp--but we also tried chicken and ham on a stick (Pollo y jamon pinchos), octopus and chorizo...indoor or outdoor seating.

Over the last decade San Juan Puerto Rico has figured out that it Is better off embracing its Spanish heritage rather than its criollo tradition. From a food perspective, this means more tapas and less plantain, beans and rice. And this restaurant is absolutely tops. Go for the tapas menu. The chorizo with bread is absolutely perfect - sharp and... More

I have stayed at El Covento Hotel and have enjoyed El Picoteo for many visits. I was so looking forward to going back, so my disappointment was more intense. The bar and restaurant needs attention. It is has seen better days, it is unkept (keep in mind this is supposed to be a top luxury hotel), cheap chairs and tables,... More

We went to El Picoteo twice: the first time for appetizers and drinks, and the second time just for drinks. The first time we had a good bartender who made very good drinks, and had excellent appetizers--try the ceviche here! The second time we went for drinks, however, there was a different bartender, and the drinks were AWFUL. We both... More

This place is in the same complex as the El Convento hotel and Patio del Nispero (which is inside the hotel) It was a lovely stop for wine and tapas, decent food although a bit overpriced for what it was.

Wonderful cocktails, wonderful food. Try the beef tenderloins. Get a table overlooking the hotel bar

We ate in this place twice. The first time I had the small pizza with sliced tomatoes. My wife liked it so much, that she had it the next time. Not even the same dish. Talked to the manager and sent it back. Still could not get it right. You would think that there would be a standard for the... More

We stopped by and sat outside in the cute courtyard area, where we had a delicious lunch. The special cocktails were yummy and refreshing, and the food was light and perfect for a break from shopping and the heat. We really enjoyed our leisurely lunch here!

My fiancé and I went on a slow weeknight and Gustavo (I think that was his name) did a great job going down the menu with us and made great wine suggestions. The patio is amazing!
