We went early in our Puerto Rico visit, so unfortunately, we weren't as adventurous as we should have been. We decided to share a side of mofongo and flan which was very good, but I wish we had tried some other food. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, and even though she cleaned our table after we sat down, she missed... More

Great atmosphere, too. We loved it. Everything except the Malta India. Always eager to try new foods and drinks, and usually enjoying them, I have to say that the prune-juice tasting soda was a bit disappointing, BUT, I am glad I gave it a shot. I wouldn't order it again though (even though I do occasionally like a cold glass... More

We were recommended to come here by our host in San Juan. It's a little off the beaten path of Old San Juan and seemed to bring in more of a local crowd. The service was attentive and friendly. We decided to order a pitcher of Sangria. The menu says it is about 6 glasses. But it seemed like a... More

We had lunch here and it was great. Very traditional food. It is not heavy on decor - just a bunch of tables in a big room - but the food was delicious and tasted fresh. Not expensive when you compare to the other restaurants in OSJ.

Check out this place for great, puerto rican food. Not to be missed. I had their "Christmas dinner" plate consisting of their traditional, holiday foods. My girlfriend had a pork dish with the Yuca side with garlic/butter sauce. The Nutella and pistachio flan were top notch and best we had all week. We went back the next day and tried... More

Being that San Juan was nearly a million degrees the day we were there, we scaled the cobble stone streets in search of relief. It was about 10:30am when we arrived and since the location is kind of tucked away we were the only (and probably first) customers in the restaurant. The heat caused us to order a pitcher of... More

It promises a great experience of puertorrican flavor in a great traditional setting within the walls of OSJ. When you begin tomdeal with the management, the rise in food prices without explanation, the chamr fades away. Yes, the flavors are there and some servers are nice and kind, but if you want true PR ciusine there are other better places... More

Most tourists go to restaurant Raices for typical Puerto Rican food. Mistake! Go to El Jibarito. This is where the locals go to eat. It's located near El Morro and Totem Plaza. It's food that our moms and grandma's prepare. I took two visitors from Colombia I met in a café. They ordered the onion bistec, white rice, red beans... More

If you're looking for decent puerto rican food without spending too much money, el jibarito is where you should go. Service wasn't great for us though and they were closed shortly after our visit due to repairs.

Delicious food at an affordable price, what's not to like? I had the pork stuffed tamale with Spanish rice and tostones (the Spanish rice was SO GOOD, definitely recommend). My boyfriend got the bistec enceballado (steak with onions) -- I preferred that over the tamale (which was still delicious, but the bistec was so tender you didn't even need a... More
