We asked a local friend of ours where we had to eat if we were in San Juan for an evening. Raices was one of his recommendations. We went on a Saturday night so there was a HUGE line waiting to get in. It is not a big place so seating is very limited and they do not turn tables... More

We travel to Puerto Rico at least once a year and we always try to eat here. Arrive early for dinner because it is always packed. If you arrive around five, you can get right in. By six or seven on the weekends, the wait can be up to an hour. The food is amazing. We have never had a... More

Had lunch here - service was excellent with our server patiently explaining some of the meaning of the menu to those who were not familiar with Puerto Rican food. The food arrived promptly and was very nice. Atmosphere was good - deliberately old world however may come off as fake to some.

Very good food with family atmosphere. Chuelta Kan Kan is excellent. Drinks are very good. Very good mofongo. I would go here again. Located in Old San Juan.

We've heard a lot of reviews about Raices and we decided to give it a try...boy, what a disappointment! We had a group of 8, both local and from the mainland, we were asked to wait outside, something that wasn't a problem. But, wow, our 'experience' started when they took an hour to bring the appetizers, no apologies, no nothing,... More

Im not a real fan of Theme Restaurants but Raices was pretty cool and yes very traditional thematic Puerto Rico at its best! Have to say wait time here is crazy! Stuck up hosts.... Sat down with my wife finally after a 30 min. wait for just a table of two. At first not a big fan of the whole... More

My husband and I were starving by the time we settled on this restaurant and the whole meal really just felt like we were settling. The food was ok. We sat outside, which meant we were seated quickly and could people watch while we waited and ate. The service was slow - took a long time for water and menus,... More

Great services and a good lunch. The Mofongos are good but can be shared by two people. They sat us within 5 minutes.

My first and only visit to Raices was horrible!. I wait almost 45 minutes for a table, and really I wasn't impressed with the place, very crowdy, just a few choices, an incredible low and really bad service, with their bad food, Churrasco, OMG, it wasn't churrasco, was boil and after that..., ok, better no talk......The environment is a "tourist... My hubby and I decided to eat there right before airport which was recommended by local. I had churasco chimichurri mofongo which was por la maceta! My hubby had shrimp/with churasco and gravy under the mofongo was yuca, yautia, malanga and platano (WEPA!, my husband said). The server was very nice and knowledgable. I wish I could remember his name.... More
