Dinner on the Beach

I was a little skeptical of a dinner on the beach. What about bugs and sand and all the other distractions. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were at the end of the road and the building had bars on the window. Our party of 18 pushed the door bell, because the door also had bars and was... read more

We go to Pamela's every time we're in San Juan. The food and service are very good and dinner on the beach is special. So why the mediocre rating? This was our second visit on this trip. I generally go over the itemized bill but I admit it's sometimes a cursory review. This time the person I was with thought... More

Following rather mixed reviews in TA we decided to try it ourselves since we stayed only two blocks away. We got a nice table on the beach but had to rush inside only 20 mins later due to a tropical shower. Very flexible and helpful service from our waiter. The menu offers about ten choices for starters and the same... More

We had lunch here on recommendation from friends who had visited before. We met up with another couple that was in the area. Found street parking a few blocks away in the neighborhood. Highlights of the meal were pina coladas, and our appetizer of curry coconut shrimp. After that, sharply downhill. My pork chop was tasty but overcooked and quite... More

We were looking for a beach-front restaurant for dinner on our first night in Puerto Rico. This restaurant was recommended, so we set out to find it. As we drove to the restaurant, the neighborhood looked a little dodgy, but after parking and a short walk, we were delighted as we rounded the corner to find this lovely, toes-in-the-sand eatery.... We knew what we were getting when we went to Pamela's and you should to. Eating on the beach under the palm trees listening to the waves and watching the lights of boats off the shore is magical. The food is mediocre to fine and overpriced. The service was the worst we had in San Juan - not overly friendly,... More

We had such an incredible dining experience at Pamela's in February of 2015. We stopped in for a late dinner after being given the recommendation by someone at our hotel. We sat at a table on the beach, had drinks from the bar (piña colada and strawberry daiquiri - both were great.) Warm bread and garlic butter was brought out... More

I was very close to canceling my beach front table reservation as the reviews did not give me a positive feeling...I could have saved a lot of money if I had followed my instincts. If it is at all windy do not ask for a beach table, we got blown away, not the restaurants fault. The service is not that... More

A group of 14 of us descended upon Pamela's about 5:00 p.m. from our cruise ship for cocktails and appetizers. They graciously offered to set up tables on the beach for us. Great hospitality and atmosphere! Only one word of caution: Take the OFF or some type of bug repellent to keep from getting sand flea bites.

We were recommended to try this restaurant by our hotel concierge who handled the reservation. Unfortunately they must have used an on line app for the reservation because after our cab delivered us to the restaurant, we found out that the entire inside had been reserved for a private party. Unfortunately the weather was overcast and breezy with a forecast... More
