Nice but expensive

I have enjoyed visiting Kasalta for many years. I love to visit when I have a pan con bistec craving. It has the ambiance and you can certainly enjoy a cortado and a quesito while you read the newspaper or browse the internet, but the prices have increased . It is still a place I enjoy visiting... read more

President Obama ate here!! You can sit at his table and enjoy an omelette, have an authentic napoleon, or just a great cup of Puerto Rican coffee. Sandwiches of special cheeses and salamis are available at lunch also. Not to be missed if in the Ocean Park area.

Had brunch here with my husband yesterday and had sandwiches. It was an ok sandwich but not what I expected for a $15 one (after being charged extra for cheese and lettuce and tomatoes that was what my Serrano ham sandwich cost) had to say I had much better in other "hole in the wall" panaderias Not going back

The coffee is great and all the pastries looked unreal. The sandwiches were outstanding, but egg breakfast a bit disappointing.

prices, service & food are great. We ate breakfast here everyday and I loved their espresso, questios, and the oatmeal is to die for!

This really is just a large deli, but the food was great. The bakery looked outstanding, though we didn't order it. Kasalta was recommended in Frommer's, and they even have a photo on the wall of a visit by President Obama a few years ago. You can either order at the counter or sit down and be waited on. For... I really enjoyed a breakfast sandwich I had here on Sunday morning. The lady at the counter suggested jamon y huevos - ham with an egg sunny side up. Not disappointed at all. Crisp yet flaky bread. Great coffee as well It seem to be a place for the neighborhood and locals. Some parking spots as well

If you want to eat a real Puertorican sandwich presidential style, this is the place. President Barack Obama had breakfast here with Alejandro Garcia Padilla Puerto Rico Governor. The best the sandwiches, all of them. Good coffee and tapas. Don't forget the Croquetas de Jamon and the Chorizo.

Food was ok, but $9.45 for a Cuban with light meat? Pastrami was also good but light on the meat. Lots of pastry options.

My family has been going to San Juan forever 10 years. We walk here for breakfast from the Caribe a few times a visit. It's a bit of a hike but the coffee and quisitos are worth it. The oatmeal is also great. I highly recommend.
