Home of the Piña Colada!

We stumbled upon Barrachina yesterday in downtown San Juan. The place has an old but great feeling to it. The colonial architecture gives you the additional factor to your meal. The food was surprisingly good and priced fairly. This place is also the creator of the Pina Colada, we added this to our... read more

Over priced food, low quality, waited too long to be served, not worth it. They low quality food and the charge you as a high quality. For a place that credits it self as the inventor of piña colada, it tasted only rum. I had a better and cheaper piña colada two blocks away from this restaurant . No recommended... More

Their signature Piña Colada was disappointing! Glad we got a taster glass before ordering a $12 one. The coconut shrimp was good, but not enough sauce and it was served with 2 bites of vegetable. The plantain was soggy. Mofongo was bland but the beef and shrimp in the plate were tasty They only had three deserts to offer. None... More

We went to the Barrachina to have a Pina colada where they were invented and we weren't disappointed! The staff was very friendly and took some fun pictures for us with the parrot. The portions are small we got the tres leche and calamari and we were looking for a little more, but overall it was a fun time!

Went based on the hotel concierge recommendation.....not the best choice this time around. We knew this place was on many tv shows because 'they created the pina colada'. and it tasted good - but nothing special. Were told many times, not the true first creation. Mojitos were good! My mofongo was really good - everyone else in the party meals... More

Service was great here. The only thing to rave about are the Pina Coladas, since this is the place where it originated. During my stay in P.R. we went twice because we were in love with the pina coladas. We did eat both times, and both times, the apps and entrees were very good.

We had a few piña coladas with lunch. They claim to have created them at this place. They were very good! It's not an inexpensive place, but the ambiance is nice, sitting outside in the courtyard was sweet, if just a tad warm on our visit. I had the pork with gandules? Rice with pigeon peas, both so scrumptious!! We... More

It was very nice and clean, we didn't get any food but the drinks were lovely. It's a beautiful historical city and we all enjoyed it a lot. The staff was friendly.

All I can say is the Pina Colada was very very good. I did not eat anything there, the service was slow just to get the drinks.
