Delicious Dinner In Old San Juan

We came to Barrachina's on a Saturday night for dinner and it had a great lively atmosphere. Every spot at the bar was taken as well as all of the tables around the restaurant. To start we had to try the Pina Coladas. How could you not try them when you were dining at the supposed birthplace of... read more

Just OK - Food was marginal. Fried everything, Pina Colada from machine was same as every other resort with a slushy machine. Hostess was nice, staff generally was disengaged and bar tenders and locals not so friendly

Wonderful authentic Puerto Rican food. I had a plantain boat full of shredded chicken. It was delish. And the pina coladas were wonderful. I could eat there again and again.

The day was hot and needed some food and drinks. This was the perfect place. Good food and good service. Very happy with everything. Will come back when we return.

I loved this place. The food tasted so good. They can accommodate the menu to your needs. The vegetarian mofongo was delicious. My husband ordered the garlic chicken with mofongo and my kids ordered the skirt steak. They were all very happy. Dessert was excellent. The guava cheesecake, YUM!!!

The wait staff was fun and accommodating we stopped at Barrachina for afternoon refreshments, appetizers. The chorizo appetizer and mofongo were great items. The roast pork was succulent and delicious. They claim to be the birthplace of the Piña Colada, but then so does Caribe Hilton Hotel's Beachcomber Bar in San Juan in 1954. "The earliest known story states that... More

We needed a respite! The Barrachina did not disappoint. We sat inside where it was cool (it was an extremely humid day!) Victor our server came right away with waters and took our drink order. Pina Colada and a Mojito. Who can pass that up at the "birthplace" of the Pina Colada. They were excellent drinks. Hubby ordered a club... More

Quick late morning stop in Old San Juan on a hot summer day, no better place than the atrium of Barrachina's and the oldest and still best pina colada around. The mai tai is great as well, but the world stops there for the uniquely-prepared colada. Not to be missed.

First, I will say that the food and atmosphere were good. No complaints there. However, our group of nine stopped in for lunch after touring the forts and I was disappointed in the choices. The (lunch) menu was limited to big dinners or american choices. That worked for much of the group, but I was looking for maybe some side... More

We started our day, fresh off a cruise ship, at this place, which offers some of the only convenient luggage storage in Old San Juan in the back of the restaurant. (The guy works for tips--which is quite a bargain, highly recommended!) Since we were there, and it was noon somewhere, we had a Pina Colada, which was fortuitous: This... More
