Ok. I admit it. The only reason we decided to eat here was because it's allegedly the birthplace of the Pina Colada. Whether true or not, it got us through the door. The Pina Colada was quite tasty, but I wouldn't say it was anything out of the ordinary. For dinner I got the Steak Fortaleza which was good, but... More

We enjoyed a lunch of authentic Puerto Rican dishes. Our server took the time to explain the dishes and photos on the menu. He made personal recommendations which were great. We enjoyed the Pina Coladas and local Medalla beer. The Mofongo dish was very filling and interesting. The favorite at our table was the Canoe special of the day. We... More

Been here several times and we always visit when coming to San Juan. Jorge the bartender was very helpful in helping is find where to purchase Ron del Barrilito rum and the Pina Coladas are excellent. I recommend the Shrimp Mofongo for lunch or dinner if you want to try a local dish.

then you must try the ORIGINAL piña colada at Barrachina! My husband and I were walking around the old city when a plaque caught my eye: the plaque was marking the building as the home of the Piña Colada. So, we went there for dinner and it was amazing. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and does have... More

If you like Piña Colada then you MUST go to Barrachina! Deliciouso! We enjoyed dinner and drinks on the patio next to the outdoor bar. For our appetizer we ordered the platano stuffed with shrimp, which was outstanding. For the main course we had the chuleta can can (pork chops) which comes with white rice but I requested the arroz... More

This was our 2nd time back to this famous place - home of the pina colada and WOW has it become an annoying tourist trap! We had just come from an amazing boat tour around the bay & just wanted to eat. Our server was the guy with the ponytail. When we did not order any pina coladas, he was... More

Upon arrival in San Juan we walked the blue cobblestone streets of the most scenic and colorful streets before we came upon Barrachina. It was 10:30 am they weren't even open yet but Jorge welcomed us with open arms and prepared us fresh Piña Coladas. They were so creamy and smooth and made with fresh pineapple. We sat at the... The flamenco show was an authentic experience like that which can be had in southern Spain. The dancers and singer were very good. You need to make reservations ahead of time and be sure to ask for a table near the stage. Our food was very good. We had the fish and a puertorrican plate of shrimp mofongo that was... More
