Im from Puerto Rico and this is my favorite restaurant at Old San Juan. When you walk in it feels like you took a time traveling machine back to the 50's. From the "zig zag" bar and the waiters tux it automatically takes you to another time. Delicious food at a very fair price. Come here for breakfast or lunch,... More

Went here because the guide book said it was popular with the locals (which it was), and served a solid, no-frills breakfast (which it does). In the heart of OSJ, lots of counter space, and the kind of place where you get the sense the locals each have "their" stool at the counter, and the servers have their coffee made... More

This is the place the locals eat. You will the see the clientele is mainly the people who work and live in Old San Juan. The place is always busy and loud. But it's worth it. I'm Puerto Rican so I know good Rican food when I see and taste it. And this place is good. Every time I go... More

Ok, the prices are very reasonable, but the food and service were mediocre at best. I went with my family of 4 for breakfast. Not particularly busy. Service was very slow and servers forgetful. They forgot to bring water we asked for and we had to ask for coffee refills. I have had very good coffee at ordinary PR restaurants,... More

If you docked in old San Juan and you wondering where to have a local meal, consider Cafe Manolin, just a few blocks north on Calle San Justo. Cafe Manolin is where the locals go for local creole food at popular prices. The food meets the most discerning local palate. Plenty of options to choose from- even a traditional Cesar... More

This is the place to go in Old San Juan if you want "comida típica," especially breaded steak, rice/beans, and tostones. May have a wait during lunch but they seemed pretty quick to seat people either at the few tables they have or at the extensive lunch counters. Well worth the trip!

This was our 3rd time visiting San Juan and our 3rd time eating here. On our first visit some 10 years ago we stopped and asked where the local eats and was told to give this place a try. Well worth it every time. This time we got the breaded pork and blended rice, awesome. And they have a sauce... More

We had lunch here after our segway tour on the recommendation of the guide. We asked for a local place with reasonable prices. This was spot on. We arrived a little before noon and there was a line out the door. However, we only had to wait around 15 minutes for a table. I had a fried shrimp dinner and... More

Went to try as many of best restaurants in San Juan. This was one of best with great food and reasonable prices for authentic PR food. The pork was to die for. It's nice but not elegant so consider going to for lunch and you may just go back again for the food. I did for this and 2 other... More

We learned in St. Thomas to ask the locals about a good place to eat and we weren't disappointed with Cafe Manolin. Upon walking in, there was a line to be seated and a packed, diner type bar. The atmosphere was very nice with World Cup soccer on the TV's and all the staff was in their World Cup attire.... More
