Love, love love this cafeteria!!

I'm a local, I live in Puerto Rico (Carolina) and if you are visiting OSJ, you have to eat here. It's a cafeteria and they have the best local cousine, without breaking the bank. They have special (especiales) everyday and the best rice and beans with bistec y ensalada. Also try the mofongo con... read more

Based on a suggestion from the hotel for a good breakfast place, the Cafe Manolin came up. After my morning walk, I got there around 9:30, the place started to close out for breakfast. The place has about 4 breakfast (food) bars and you just sit down because each bar has a server. If you feel like down home American... More

My wife and I stumbled upon this little cafe when looking for breakfast in the old town area. We asked for the same as the guy beside us who was having a western omelette. This was an omelette with cheese, ham, green peppers and crispy bacon on the side. It also came with toast. I had a coffee and my... More

This is a good place for a good inexpensive bite. The portions are decent sized and the coffee was very good! I had the steak and onions with rice and beans. It was a good portion but the steak was more like hamburger meat but still a good flavor. My friend had the chicken mofongo which had a small amount... More

This place is small and crowded, but well worth eating at. We tried the chicken and shrimp Mofongo. Truly a delight. Smashed plantains are used to form a shell around the filling. Very large portions easily feed two people. The wait staff were extremely helpful. I tried the local beer. It was very good.

Food was simple awesome, very friendly and helpful staff. They do speak english :) Dont forget to ask for spicy sauce for your mofango. Ambience is just ok as its more like hole in a wall but food is to die for.

I was on a cruise this past year and another cruise passenger recommended Café Manolin. It was so good it is a must stop with my husband on our trip this year. We sat at the bar and the waiters were very helpful in picking out what to eat. Try the Monfodo!

If you are looking for authentic puertorican food this is the place that all the locals go. Ask for the daily specials or see what the people are having and ask them directly. Almost all the regular clients speak english and will give you a hand with any questions.

I try to get to Cafe Manolin every time I'm in Old San Juan for breakfast or lunch. Classic Puerto Rican food and people, both behind the counter and dining. I try to take any visiting friends with me to enjoy it. It's a cafeteria with some tables, not a linen and candles place. As it is very popular with... More
