Old San Juan Place for Local experience

If you are looking for authentic puertorican food this is the place that all the locals go. Ask for the daily specials or see what the people are having and ask them directly. Almost all the regular clients speak english and will give you a hand with any questions.

I try to get to Cafe Manolin every time I'm in Old San Juan for breakfast or lunch. Classic Puerto Rican food and people, both behind the counter and dining. I try to take any visiting friends with me to enjoy it. It's a cafeteria with some tables, not a linen and candles place. As it is very popular with... More

I've been going to Cafe Manolin for over 20 yrs since their restaurant was at the original location a cross the street. Nothing has changed, its simply the best! And some of the attendants have been working there since forever. Its simply the best.

On each of our 4 trips to the island we have had lunch at the Café Manolin, twice on this trip. The atmosphere is very much old school and just plain cool. The food is consistently tasty and provides a welcomed introduction or conclusion to any trip to Old San Juan. The waiters are terrific. The sauces which you can... More

Great service! The food was delicious and prices are very reasonable. It's always crowded so be prepared to wait a little. Definitely worth the wait!

The guy behind the counter was great helping us try to decide a good local dish to eat. Great lunch plate with what was like a chicken parmesan and that great Puerto Rican yellow rice.

We stopped here for lunch and asked to try some of the local dishes. Our waiter did his best to speak English and we tried our best Spanish. It worked out well and we had some delicious dishes including mofongo.

This is the best cafeteria in Puerto Rico. Excellent food, size of serving, service and prices. The waiters remember your preferred dishes. If you are in San Juan and want to try real good, legitimate local cuisine, this is the place. It is a must!

After reading the reviews, my husband and I tried to go here for breakfast (about 10:50 am), but they stopped serving breakfast at 10:45 am. We decided to stay for lunch. I tried to the chicken mofongo. It was average as far as mofongo goes. Most dishes on the menu were fried. Prices were cheap.
