Simply, this is where locals eat. It is the real Puerto Rican fare, and an excellent value. Seat in a table or seat next to a local in the diner seats, you will have a great time and some fantastic food.

Looking for traditional Puerto Rican cuisine in a friendly, no-frills setting? Look no further than Café Manolin. This classic diner-style restaurant serves authentic Puerto Rican classics, with some of the best coffee I've ever had. Sitting at the counter, we listened carefully as our charming server described the day's specials. On her suggestion we ordered the pasteles, since they're only... More

If you want a cheap and Puerto Rican / Spanish lunch, go here. It has the old traditional cafeteria look from the pre 50's old San Juan. A hidden treasure....

My favorite mofongo in the world resides here... The steak is also tender and delicious as well as the sopa. Can't beat this place if on a cruise to San Juan for lunch. Also serves drinks and can get nice island dresses etc. at a shop next door!!!

When a place keeps getting recommended to you before you get there, you have high hopes, and we were not disappointed. It is set up in a diner style and serves authentic Puerto Rican food. Halfway through our meal a local street band came in and played some traditional music, which was a lot of fun. Wwe would definitely come... More

Not a fancy place, it has sort of a diner vibe. But the food is good and the servers are nice. The food has authentic flavors. Beware go early, it fills up fast if you want a table, they don't have many. They've got counter space like a diner but that fills up pretty fast. Its close to where the... More

Went for breakfast, great OJ & coffee. Food good and great value. Place was busy so service was slow. Just ask or flag staff down. Super way to start day.

My friend and I went here for a quick lunch and didn't need to have dinner later! Lol! We shared two different items, carne guisada and pastelon de amarillos (sweet plantain lasagna) . Everything tasted home made , we sat at the bar and the waitress was very kind and attentive . The coffee was expresso , I thought it... More

This joint has been around for a LONG time and is the go to breakfast/ lunch spot for those who work in the old city. Authentic Puerto Rican food as close to home made as you will get. Good portions and low prices. Get a cold Magna (local beer) w/ your bistec encebollado, rice & Brand or carne frita con... More

The food was decent (clearly a local's favorite) but the wait was long and wait staff rude. The atmosphere was very unpleasant- dingy dirty decor, miserable wait staff, hungry diners- it was all rather stressful and really soured the dining experience. I will go back to Old San Juan, but I highly doubt I would give this place another chance.
