He's Back! Just bring the wine

I've been coming to PR for business for several years. This is always the place I look forward to going the most. It's also my go-to recommendation for out of towners looking to experience a restaurant that they aren't likely to see in every major city in the U.S. And then my heart broke when I... read more

Go early in the evening to avoid a long wait. Service was good, staff is bilingual and the food was very good.

Located in Santurce (where the action is) This restaurant is a converted house. The food is Caribbean with a modern fusion. There was nothing we tried that was not spectacular. Our group ordered the whole curvina with a sweet white potato mash topped with papaya salsa. The menus change weekly. Fun atmosphere and great location if you want to do... More

A very dear friend is a friend of the house so they knew our party would be coming. We started after 10:00 on a Wednesday night and weren't shy. Jose had procured a suckling pig so the entrée was predetermined. After several bottles of Verdejo with wonderful ceviche and other apps we proceeded to pig out on the pig with... More

We were so excited to hear that they were open again after several different friends told us this was the place to try. And they weren't kidding! We had to wait a half hour, which was shorter than I had expected, and were seated by a friendly hostess. The atmosphere is super casual in a stark contrast to the gourmet... More

Very happy to know that Jose Enrique is open once again, with Chef Jose Enrique himself in the kitchen. A lot of regulars were missing his flavors, style, and choice of products... He's back and will not be disappointing anyone.

About two/three weeks ago, restaurant is closed for good, apparently. So sad to see such a great restaurant close its doors.

We loved the understated vibe at this unmarked restaurant in San Juan. The menu seemed to focus on delicious fresh seafood, but had numerous other options as well. To get a table at the first seating, we arrived about 15 mins. before opening time, and asked the hostess - who occasionally came outside of the restaurant - to put our... More

Just got back from PR. Had to return to Jose Enrique. The menu is always changing so no cheese balls this trip. Actually went twice while I was there and both meals were outstanding. Imagine my surprise when I sat down at my table and Jose was sitting next to me! He was having cocktails with friends. The atmosphere is... More

According local press reports, this restaurant is temporarily closed to the public for allegedly not paying back taxes to the PR Govt. If you happen to go to La Placita and Jose Enrique is still closed, there are other fine restaurants in the area within walking distance, such as El Pescador and Santaella.
