I have been coming here for 5 yrs now, even though now I moved to San Diego, CA. I always make it here at least once when I come to Puerto Rico. The owner, Riccardo always greets me with a welcome back hug. It's like coming home to family. The food is my favorite in all of Old San Juan.... More

I must say, this kind of customer makes it easy for us to be at our best. To see people come in good spirits, share with friends over a good meal and leave satisfied with their dining experience, is for me the most rewarding aspect of this trade, and the reason I got into it in the first place!! Thank... More

Its nice to be the spot for good value in the Italian food department!! We do try our best to keep it tasty, friendly and perhaps most important, accessible. Glad you enjoyed your visit with us, hope to see you again. Riccardo Causin. More

I have been a customer for the past 7 years, and as a local, I have many options in Old San Juan, and always like to come back here! Food is fantastic, with satisfiyng portions! The service is very friendly and personalized. The owner always makes sure that everything is perfect! Don't leave without trying their MOJITO drink, it's probably... More

food has authentic italian (venezian) taste and is like a small tratatoria, that you would see in italy including a smal bar.

Thanks for the positive review!! Offering a genuinely authentic experience is what we have always strived to achieve, and fortunately after nine years we still pull it off. Thanks again. Riccardo. More

this fine little, neighborhood restaurant to visitors. I live in Old San Juan, and my friends and I are always looking for a no fuss place that’s not too noisy to hear each other talk, and won’t break the bank; with good, fresh food and friendly cooperative service. After reviewing all the options we always seem to end up at... More

Weather by dining with us or simply recommending our little restaurant to tourists, it is almost entirely thanks to our old San Juan locals that we have been around for as long as we have! I can't thank you enough!! Riccardo. More

We had dinner here once and would definately go back again. We were looking for a decent restaurant close to the apartment we were staying at and found this little place. Usually we avoid Italian restaurants when we travel and try to have authentic foods of the country we are visiting but we had a 2 year old son and... More

While walking the Old City of San Juan one morning we stumbled upon El Bacaro on a little side street. From the view through the windows we saw a delightful little restaurant. The Trip Advisor sticker on the door convinced me that they care about what their guests have to say. We came back later in the week to a... More

The staff are helpful, friendly, and attractive and the place feels authentic and charming. It's small and cozy with soft lighting. I had the impression that locals were eating here. In fact, our neighbor was born and raised in San Juan and recommended the Carbonara (which indeed she ordered). Our meal was delicious with one very sad exception. The dessert.... More

On our last night in Puerto Rico my Italian (fresh off the boat) husband and I took a chance and ate at Il Bacaro Venezia. You see, normally we are prohibited from eating at Italian restaurants outside of Italy but our palates needed a change after four days in PR. We were pleasantly surprised when the owner came to greet... More
