Nice for local night life. Wear shoes suitable for walking and that you don't mind getting dirty ladies. The side roads are dirty because of drinks, road run-off, and mud mixing together. I wasn't overly impressed with La Placita, which has nothing to do with the abovementioned sanitary conditions; I have been to local street parties before and I am... More

After a brief lesson in salsa and merengue, our dance instructor set us lose on Thursday night in the La Placita area. VERY fun! There is a lot of live music played here and people will literally be dancing on the sidewalks. Just lovely! Even if you can't dance, just go enjoy the fun, watch others and don't be afraid... More

If you are looking to stay local and still know what's going on, La Placita is the area for that heavily populated on the weekends, so if you dont ljke crowds dont go. Cheap Grapefruit Juice and Vodka which is the drink of choice in that area, 5 bucks for a collage style plastic cup at the hole in the... More

My friends and I walked to La Placita from our hotel the Doubletree on a Friday evening. It was about a ten minute walk and it was easy to find, just follow the music. There are many bars to choose from playing a variety of music. The drinks are cheap and there are so many people to meet and dance... More

Thursdays and Fridays are usual crowded with really young people. On my personal opinion I prefer Saturdays and Sundays since they are a little bit less crowded / more adults instead on young people searching for trouble.

Several types of music playing, cheap drinks, lots of young people but also older people that like to have FUN! Live music as well, young men playing instruments in the street. People dancing, ugh such a good time! Definitely pass by... More

Market by day, party by night. Its an area of 3-4 street with numerous bars and restaurants, great food, great drinks, great live music. Good mix of tourist and locals. People walking around, dancing on the sidewalk generally enjoying themselves. Must visit
