I have been to Los Cidrines a few times, for business meetings and other celebrations. This time we had a lunch meeting; and the soup was great and the sandwich better. Their "criollo" bread is unique, crispy in the outside and soft in the center. The coffee was excellent, along with the ambiance. Wanted to dine at the fancy section... More

We selected this place because it was on our way to my daughter's interview and didn't want to go to a fast food place. Los Cidrines was hopping full at 8:30 am, but the ordering was quick and efficient and all was delivered exactly how we wanted. A curious thing is they have a separate line for people who are... Medianoche or Cubano? Using some of the best ingredients in the sandwich business, one of the more consistent bakeries in PR.

a little expensive for the experience, that is, a basic breakfast, but always great ingredients and preparation.

Locals go all the time for breakfast or lunch. They have the best sandwiches, made with their own bread. Try "pan sobao" with your sandwich, it is a soft sweet bread. Service is great and prices are reasonable. Ahh, coffee is great, so are the pastries.

I am a fan of their "pastelillos de carne" and ham croquettes. The sandwiches and sweets are also great. It is a little pricier than most cafeterias/panaderias (not thaat much), but not as expensive as a restaurant for breakfast. The bread is good, but its not the best, nor are the french toast.

Los Cidrines is a bakery chain started in Arecibo in the early 1970s by a Cuban immigrant named Manuel Cidre. His children have expanded it to may other locations in the island, and their De Diego Ave. store in Rio Piedras is sort of a flagship location for the chain. They took the traditional Spanish/Cuban bakery concept and refined it... More
