Many of the places in old San Juan cater to tourists and, in particular, Americans who are used to paying a lot of money on their vacations. This place was the opposite of all that, and I loved it. Every morning I had the pan mallorca with egg, ham and cheese (make sure to ask for swiss if you are... More

Not much to look at but they sure do a brisk breakfast business and once you've eaten there you can see why. The Mallorca breakfast sandwich the best! Went with a colleague on a business trip, came back with my husband. Will go back again if I am in the area.

We stumble upon this Cafeteria in search of a good cup of coffee and found exactly what we were looking for along with a delicious breakfast! Mallorcas are definitely worth a try :) We loved this place so much we came back to el Viejo San Juan for breakfast for the remainder of our days. It became part of our... More

We had breakfast here after we debarked a cruise ship in OSJ. The ham, egg and cheese mallorca is super yummy. The service was fast and with a smile. Every table was full and we seemed to unwittingly time our arrival perfectly. Service is fast here, so don't let a wait discourage you.

This is your hidden out of the way café, not much from the outside, but walking by, you can smell the fresh baked goodies, the specialty, the Mallorca. The food is typical Puerto rican fare. The amounts are generous, cost is fair and waiting is minimal. Get there early as tables fill up fast. Lots of locals and savvy travelers.... More

I have visited the Cafeteria Mallorca for 40 years. Consistently good. It is not a luxurious or gourmet place. This is a magical, "classic" gem that the local San Juan and Puerto Rico locals remember with nostalgia and happiness... They serve classic breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices... Some of the waiters there have been there for 20+ years....

When in Old San Juan you have to try a Mallorca. Its a grilled ham and cheese sandwich on a fresh baked roll and then grilled and dusted with powdered sugar. Delish. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the servers as they made fresh squeezed orange juice. Don't be in a hurry the place is usually packed but... More

My fiancé and I just arrived in Old San Juan from the airport and were starving. We sat at the bar and ordered 2 plates of chicken, rice and beans. The portions were quite big. I suggest sharing if you're not extremely hungry. Must try the mallorca pastry. Everyone orders this and it's basically a flat butterfly-shaped pastry made fresh,... More
