Great location and good food

Had roast pork dinner, which was economical and tasty. Followed up with a Mallorca, which was out of this world. Visited the next morning and got a Mallorca to go. Both were great. Heavily frequented by locals, which is always a good sign.

Solo traveler tip: Walk up straight to the bar. I arrived a Monday morning to Cafeteria Mallorca, and sure enough, there was a huge line out the door. As a solo traveler I skipped all the waiting and walked up to an empty stool at the bar. It was great! The service was very quick. The ham/cheese mallorca and coffee... More

If you want to eat with the people who live here, this is the place. English is spoken, but not very much. The food is nothing special, but atmosphere is lively and fun. It's often crowded and there could be a short wait. But, the service is fast, so tables open up quickly. The Mallorca is a must try. Even... More

We were renting a home near by and got baked goods to bring back for breakfast that we really enjoyed. On our last day we decided we should try dining in. It is an old diner that hasn't been updated since it probably opened in the 50's or 60's and hasn't really since a lot of maintenance. Initially it felt... More

We are so lucky are taxi driver recommended this spot. This was the best breakfast we had on our trip! We had the mallorca sandwiches stuffed with ham and cheese. It starts out looking like a regular sandwich on a bun, then they put it on this machine, top it with butter and let it go! After a couple minutes,... More

We have been to Cafeteria Mallorca many times, and this visit only had time to stop in for a coffee for my husband and pastries for us both. Once again, the pastries were excellent, the service at the counter was efficient and friendly, and we will return on our next visit. We recommend this 50's throwback for anyone who wants... More

This is not a fine dining establishment. This is a funky, bare bones breakfast spot with cheap silverware, dish ware and a wait staff that does not smile nor speak English. I loved it! They specialize in typical Puerto Rican breakfast food, notably the Mallorca: a buttery croissant stuffed with ham and cheese, grilled, then dusted with powdered sugar! We... More

People in Colorado get numb to the view of the Rockies just like people in New York never look up. Being around something so long you tend to overlook the uniqueness of what makes something special. I think maybe citizens of San Juan are that way about Cafeteria Mallorca on San Francisco in Old San Juan. Don't go for gourmet... More

You can see the pastries in the window, but they also have a breakfast and lunch menu inside. We had read of the Mallorca "buns" that are used for pastries and for lunch sandwiches. Be aware that the Mallorca sandwiches, even though they have ham, cheese, and egg in many combinations they also have powdered sugar on them. It's not... More

Came across the Mallorca on a Sunday afternoon walking down Calle de San Francisco. It looked unpretentious, but inviting with trays of mallorcas in the window. Except for one couple who came in as we were leaving, all of the patrons, including a table of policemen, eating their Sunday lunch were locals. Not being that hungry, we had a warm... More
