The service was great, everyone was friendly and talkative. They made sure my friend and I were well taken care the minute we walked in the door to the time we walked out of the place. The food was excellent, it tasted very authentic and fresh. Tried several dishes and they were all delicious. I also highly recommend trying their... more

We had a great time! We went to Old San Juan and went to many unique shops and had great street food. Also went to a excellent restaraunt called Cafe Puerto Rico. We went upstairs to eat and the doors were open so we could listen to the bands outside. The food was amazing and the Mojito's were terrrific! A... more

My partner and I had dinner at Cafe San Juan on our last night in Puerto Rico (a Saturday night). It's not the splashiest restaurant in Old San Juan, nor the most innovative, but it's clearly a local favorite. We waited about 20 minutes for a table (on a Saturday night without reservations, who's complaining?). The wait staff were busy... more

I read a review here on Trip Advisor before we left. Well, glad I listened. When the cab let us off in Old San Juan, we headed for the nearby fort, then after the Cristobal fort, then we headed back over for lunch and drinks. WOW! Value - $8.00 gets a huge plate of food. Husband had tender, tender, cut... more

I travel to Puerto Rico every 6-8 weeks and this is the first restaurant that I go to eat. The food and service is among the best that I have eaten all over the world. The best Mofungo you will ever eat. This is my favorite restaurant, and I highly suggest everyone try it. more

We were recommend Cafe Puerto Rico by an American shop owner in San Juan. Upon arrival we were asked to wait a few minutes until they cleared a table for the 4 of us, we were traveling with 4 yr old twin boys. We ordered the chicken soup for the boys and it was delicious. The best chicken soup, I've... more

This place looks like your average restaurant. The food was really good. The Mofongo with crab meat is a great dish. It is very authentic Puerto Rican food. more

We were disappointed with the food at Cafe Puerto Rico, after it had been recommended. The food was heavily-fried and dry (not moist) and the mofongo not very flavorful and heavy. We ate mofongo 3 other times during our stay and it was great at the other places. I don't recommend this place. more

We had a great evening at Cafe Puerto Rico!! The food was phenomenal & was not as expensive as other restaurants. I highly recommend the Cassava (SP) filled with steak....AMAZING!! Our waitress (Nancy....pronounced "Noncy" ) was so fun! She even sang to us for our friends birthday. The sangria was really good, too!! This needs to be on your list....and... more

We ate here after hearing a recommendation from our tour bus driver. We had eaten at another local cuisine restaurant (Cafe Milano) and this was a definite step up as far as the cuisine and selections, although it was also more expensive. Our favorites were the fried cheese appetizer, plantain soup & mofongo (made with cassaba) . more
