Glad we tried for a second time

Our 2012 stop here was not great because of an unhappy employee but we are really glad we tried it again this year! Juan Carlos was an awesome bartender, his fresh made Mojito is incredible! We are not big fans of Mofongo but these guys have one of the best. We would definitely return.

I visited the restaurant with a fried last month. I had mofongo filled with chicken and my fried had pork, arroz manposteado, fried plantains, salad, soup, custard for dessert. Very good food and unforgettable view of the mountains, including the sea.

This was our favorite dinner in Old San Juan. We were there on a Monday night, and the restaurant was quiet and wonderful. The decor is the best of old architecture and modern amenities. The food was really good as well. My daughter and I split the prix fixe dinner and the waiter was happy to accommodate us. The sangria... More

My mom and I ate lunch here a week ago and it was great. Mom had the lentil soup and I had the mushroom risotto. We also shared some fried chicken, the flavor of which was great but it was a little dry. We almost had the place to ourselves except for a few other patrons. The price was great... More

Avoid this place at all costs. My visit was on 3/24/13 and we were treated as inferior. The waiter took our order and we then waited over an hour for the food to come. Mind you, we were the only customers in the place. I went to the bar to ask my waiter for another beer (because he never checked... More

You're not sure they care whether or not you show up to eat here. There was no sense of urgency or service to try to get us a menu right away, but it did eventually come and the gentleman behind the bar was polite enough. We did eventually get drinks but refills weren't quick at all. So, don't stop if... More

We were in Puerto Rico prior to our cruise and did a rum tasting with Legends of Puerto Rico and they used this restaurant. The food was DELICIOUS! In fact, we liked it so much we went back there the next evening and had the same meal. It was WAY YUMM!!!!!!!!

But, the service - as has been mentioned by others - leaves a bit to be desired, so only a very good from me. We started with garbanzo soup - very good and full of sausage, and grouper cerviche - very tasty and nice portion. For main I had grouper fillet with garlic sauce - very tasty indeed. A side... We make this a must every trip to San Juan. The skirt steak with rice and beans is simply amazing! The mojitos are the best and the people watching with the open doors is a blast. Our last trip in February we dined here before and after our cruise. The service is slow - so don't go if you expect... More

My sister and I chose el Asador because the evening was beautiful and we wanted to sit outside. For that reason, we don't regret our choice. It is located on the corner at the top of a callejon, several tables outside, and the night was gorgeous. They brought us our bottle of really quite good tempranillo and our decent entrees,... More
