When we made reservations for our party of 8, the table wasn't ready despite a nearly empty restaurant. After requesting tap water for the table, they inevitably came out with bottled water and charged us an extra $6. The food was so-so, not 5 star like other reviewers. Would we go again? Me thinks not.

Al Dente is the oldest italien restaurant in San Juan : 25 years of success ! It deserves ils reputation. Lovely atmosphere in a colourful dining room full of paintings representing a crazy af joyful San Juan. The menu proposes traditional sicilian cuisine: pasta, risotto, nice meat and fish. The desserts are really rich as well. Service is really perfect... More

After a day of walking around Old San Juan, was so happy we found this restaurant on our way back to the parking garage. The staff was great, Food was excellent. It was around 3 pm so we had a late lunch and it was not crowded at all. My husband had the swordfish and he says it was excellent.... More

After reading a few negative reviews about bug bites and this being a horrible restaurant, I was reluctant to try this place out. I walked by it a few times while touring Old San Juan and even stopped to read the menu and check Yelp for more reviews. Finally, a waiter came outside and invited me in. I am very... More

Must try the escargot appetizer. Best Italian in Old San Juan. I have been coming since they opened ! They did not disappoint, the service was spot on and the food cooked to perfection. A local who had not been back in a while.

Please do not believe the few bad reviews! The restaurant cannot control bugs outside, nor can they control rude people. That being said, this restaurant was top shelf from start to finish. The food was amazing, authentic Italian. Carlo, the owner, came right to our table to explain the menu and give recommendations. The bruschetta was delicious. The asparagus risotto... More

It was a hot hot day of being a tourist of Old San Juan, the kids were hot and hungry and we stumbled into Al Dente. The air conditioner blasted us as we walked it and they seated us immediately. Some delicous bread was given and we ordered, the meals that were delivered to us was simply fantastic, the service... More

Don't be fooled by the cute bistro look and feel of this place - once you sit at the outdoor seating you will regret it. There's a family of mosquitos waiting for you under the table. It's so horrible you spend your time counting the minutes to leave. The food leaves much to be desired for - the calamari were... More

This restaurant is terrible, the service was not good at all and the worst was the food and on top of that the mosquitoes ate me alive plus it was very pricey
