We ate there by chance, we didn't know. Food was reasonably good if you take into consideration that you are abroad and you yourself would probably have difficulties in cooking what you are used to cook - if you live here and must get the original products -. So I think your comparation benchmark should not be the trattoria where... More

I had dinner here earlier this week on a business trip to San Juan. This is a nice restaurant in Old San Juan. Good food, good atmosphere, good value.

We happend upon this restaurant last year when we were in Puerto Rico after a LONG search for lunch. We couldn't find a menu we both agreed on til we found Al Dente! The food is amazing and so is the atmosphere! It's so good that when we came back this year we didn't look anywhere else! They've done a... More

We were in the mood for Italian and this restaurant was superb! Found by accident as we were looking for a different place, we couldn't have been more fortunate! We ate earlier than the locals do so the restaurant was empty and quiet with soft music and dim lighting. The decor was very interesting as the owner is an artist... More

Best Italian food in Puerto Rico. A little bit more expensive than the second best, Faccio's, but worth it. The ambiance is extremely nice, and this month they wil be remodeling the bar area. Be sure to try the sausage and cheese appetizer and the pumpkin filled raviolis! I've been going to this place since I was a child, and... More

I like the food here, and the service, the price is ok, I don't like they don't have too much parking.

We were wandering around Old San Juan looking for respite from the midday heat. We walked in Raices which is 3 doors down from al Dente. My anti tourist trap alarm went off and I walked down the street to Al Dente which looked cool and reserved. I walked in and I was washed over by the feeling of Soave!... More

When we made reservations for our party of 8, the table wasn't ready despite a nearly empty restaurant. After requesting tap water for the table, they inevitably came out with bottled water and charged us an extra $6. The food was so-so, not 5 star like other reviewers. Would we go again? Me thinks not.

Al Dente is the oldest italien restaurant in San Juan : 25 years of success ! It deserves ils reputation. Lovely atmosphere in a colourful dining room full of paintings representing a crazy af joyful San Juan. The menu proposes traditional sicilian cuisine: pasta, risotto, nice meat and fish. The desserts are really rich as well. Service is really perfect... More
