This lady is an institution. She has a barbecue on the bank of the Rio Grande river at Port Antonio. You can only reach it by bamboo raft! I'm serious. You can google Belinda's Rio Grande Port Antonio and it will come up. This lady cooks the greatest spicy crayfish and fried chicken ever. Look at my profile- I've eaten all around the world, I'm not joking. I ate their today and it broke my heart to see other tourists rafting by and not taking their lunch there because they didn't know about it. This lady needs a break and Tripadvisor can help. Not out of sympathy, but just great food

One of the nicest meals I've EVER had

Belinda cooks fresh delicious Jamaican food along the side of the Rio Grande river. Ask your raft captain to call her to make sure she is there with some food for you. We were the last people to ride on the river that day and Belinda very kindly waited for us (even though she has a long walk... read more

The best meal I ate in Portland was Belinda's. Combined with the experience of getting there via bamboo raft....and swimming before and after the meal, it was positively sublime.

Ate crayfish and curry lamb. Both really good but very spicy. Great setting by Rio grande rafting route.

Order ahead and then go and enjoy your meal. We ordered black snapper and wasn't disappointed, We didn't pay until our meal was delivered ($14.US) the meal had rice & peas, veg, and a good amount of snapper. Others ordered the lobster but they had a limited quantity, so make it your first stop before heading to the beach.

This is seriously one of the best meals we've ever eaten, we took the raft down river and stopped half way for lunch at her makeshift shack. We had crayfish coconut curry, chicken fricasse, rice and dumpling. We both ate and bought our raft captain lunch too. (Kevin our guide was really fantastic). The food was simply phenomenal and Belinda... More

Halfway through our rio grande raft trip we pull up to this little tiny village on the river with a woodfire and this woman with ten different pots..she served us crawfish the size of lobsters, chicken, callaloo(the best dish by far surprisingly) rice and dumplings..all for 5500 JMD for four people..the food was sooo good I was sad to leave... My husband and i still talk about the meal Belinda prepared for us while we floated the Rio Grande. She should be the chef at every hotel and restaurant in Port Antonio- or she should just move here to New York! It is a once in a lifetime experience to walk up to her riverside hut and see all the... More

If you visit the Port Antonio region you will be recommended to take a rafting trip along the Rio Grande, and very pleasant it is too. What is not always recommended is that you should pull up ashore and visit Belinda's. She cooks on a simple wood fired barbecue but produces the best ever spicy fresh crayfish and jamaican fried...
