A wall separates Margarita's ville (an American food chaine) of Fisherman' s Beach; an authentic Jamaican place where you can smell the fresh fish (and the marihuana..). We had a wonderfull lunch at whalers! People was so kind and food so fresh and tasty! I recommend not only the food, but this experience!

Stayed at the Grande in Ocho rios two years ago and a local recommended we visit Whalers seafood resturant - it was fantastic. So when we returned to Ocho Rios again in April 2014 Whalers was an absolute must. It was every bit as good as the first time. If you love seafood then this is the place to go.... More

I recently visited this location this past weekend, of course after researching different reviews, I decided to add it to my list. It was great food and service. Delicious lobster (US $32) with two Red Stripes, and a order of stew fish. I had my lobster prepared in shell with the garlic sauce, and it was amazing. The restaurant itself,... More

I found whalers on trip advisor when I looked on the last review I was very sceptical however my wife insist to try it because our friends recommended us who visited whalers in December they were staying at the Jamaica Grande Hotel. So what if the fish is served with the head they were born with it mistakes do happen.... More

First of all you had to walk down a dirt road that was dark and less than safe looking. There were other businesses in the area but you couldn't tell what they were. There was loud music coming from different directions and we were offered a "smoke" from a man in a passing car. This is where the fishermen work... More

After we asked our cab driver Kevin to go to "The Lobster Shack" he said no problem! As he was walking us down, he mentioned that we could go to a place there that had an upstairs were vendors wouldn't bother us. We ended up on the top floor of Whalers! My husband hand the Curried Lobster, and I had... More

My husband and I consider ourselves foodies, and so the satisfaction of a well prepared cuisine, is always a challenge my taste buds are looking to rekindle, through the nostalgic cuisine that previously excited them. This was achieved during my visit to Whalers. The staff were friendly and the food was something you must experience. I dabbled in the Jerk... More

We visited whalers two weeks ago, the view of the ocean and the crewships is one to experience. The food is the real reason why we have to go back to whalers, we had grilled and garlicbutter lobster and our kids had curry conch and steam fish. That was the best grilled lobster I ever had and I was able... More

The jerk chicken is the best chicken i have ever eaten, sauce tasted excellent and festivals are a must try while in Jamaica. Festivals are fried cornbread sticks.... The area is pretty local so this is definitely not touristy and its right next to Margaritaville which is touristy. So if you want real authentic Jamaican food just go next door... More
