Description: Indian cuisine is tastefully unique and incredibly varied. Evolving over...
Indian cuisine is tastefully unique and incredibly varied. Evolving over many centuries,it reflects staggering diversity of a country whose food encompasses the cooking techniques of many nationalities and cultures. A vast spectrum of flavours is created by the judicious and inventive use of spices resulting in a world renouned and truly delicious cuisine. Perhaps the most elaborate dishes come from the north, which was inherited from the Mughals, who invaded India from Persia in the 16th century. Many Moghali dishes such as pulaos (pilifs) and biryanis (rice, meat and spices creations) are rich and lavish due to the ingredients used. Other Indian specialties include kebabs and tandoori dishes, which are cooked in a special clay pot, called a tandoor. What links a country whose cuisine is varied and diverse from region to region due to its language, culture and climate is a common denominator of Indian hospitality and graciousness. Here at Passage to India, as your host, we are committed to providing you, our guests, with just that and making your dining experience with us a truly memorable and enjoyable one.

Great lunch special

We went twice for the lunch special - a Thali dish with nan, rice, dhal, tandoori chicken (or veg) and a main dish. We had Goanese chicken which was great. The food was good quality, freshly cooked and very tasty. The food was hot - so many restaurants serve tepid food - and good sized... read more

This really was an excellent curry, we both agreed one of the best we've had. Lovely waitress and quite a pretty restaurant compared to most in ocho rios centre. We had. Lovely evening but had 3 dishes and 2 drinks and it was about £75. It seemed a lot to us and were from London which is pretty pricey but... More

We ate 3 times at passage during this trip. it is located in the centre of ocho close to the farmers market. we ate the vagetarian fare each time. absolutely loved the okra masala (masaledar bhindi). the lassi was pretty good as was the roti and naan the paneer dishes were a little less flavorful as compared to the okra... We got sick of the resort food so walked over here. The service was nice and the place is cute on the rooftop of a building of shops. We ordered two appetizers for lunch: garlic shrimp and tandoori wings. Garlic shrimp was ok but the wings.. my goodness! DELICIOUS! We complained how long the food took, but after we tasted... More

Beautiful restaurant with great staff. Amazing food, genuine taste of India and that's coming from an Indian. Would definitely recommend a visit and very reasonable priced.

Food is never disappointing, it's like nothing you have ever tasted. Great use of spices, textures and imagination in each dish. Try the mango lassi drink, reall yummy and filling. HOWEVER...AND I HATE TO SAY THIS... staff needs some serious training and/or reevaluation. Could over hear them making snide remarks about each other in very close earshot to the customers.... More

Passage to india has opened the new way to the india with a vibrant touch of its ambience and spices. one has to definitely stop by to sit in the classic indian style bar and view the ocean. The place has a totally different appearance in the night. Please do not miss the new barbeque grill on table where you... More

Every dish was perfect. You have to wait a while as cooked to order. We heaped praises on the humble young new chef who turned most of our dinner conversation to hmmmmmmmm! Such exciting tastes. The lemon coriander soup and butter chicken were out of this world.

10 years ago we were in Ocho Rios and liked this one so much that we ate there twice. So, when we were going back this time we definitely wanted to revisit it. However, the owners have just closed the restaurant. Another Indian family has taken over the spot and it is being remodeled now, with the plan to reopen... More
