Why, when the food is made so well and the surroundings so breathtaking, do the staff have be so half-hearted in their approach to service? If there are items off the menu, why not tell us before you take our order? I hope it can improve, they work hard. I would not recommend the journey from... read more

Was staying at the Mount Edge Guest House and ate here for dinner and breakfast. The food at the cafe was nice (had the barrel roasted chicken for dinner) and so was the homemade lemonade. One negative was the tablecloths used at breakfast hadn't been changed from dinner the night before so were still dirty which was disappointing.

Food was fine but limited and place is authentic bohemian atmosphere but get ready for to take your time and then some. Not much else going on up there in the mountains so best just to go to Strawberry Hill to dine.

My wife and I took the hair raising drive to Eits Cafe which was well worth the drive. The food was excellent! We started with the acclaimed mint pea soup, which more than lived up to its hype. We then had the crab cakes, followed by the arugula walnut salad which we shared. My wife, for her main course, had... More

Tucked away in the blue mountains and overlooking the hills and the city this rustic restaurant serves up a delicious and unique menu. I loved the mint-pea soup! My friends and I relaxed in the lounge, admired the collection of paintings antique furniture and browsed through the collection of french and german books...definitely a wonderful place to spend the day... If you're staying in Kingston it's worth the drive; we were actually staying in the guest house so had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Everything we had was excellent; veggies are grown there and the salads were to die for! Prices were very reasonable. And the scenery.......wow!

Keep driving, keep driving, keep driving........ it will be well worth the trip. Outstanding ambiance, rustic for sure but comfortable and relaxing. Great service from the staff. The owner came over to our table and chatted with us. Very nice gal indeed. The views are amazing, the prices are excellent. About $4 for a glass of wine....................really?
